Guests were greeted by a carnival of colour and love when Lydia and Trent tied the knot on an incredible private property in the coastal town of Torquay.

It was after a laughter-filled ceremony that the party really started, the couple and their guests lead to their reception by a mariachi band. They combined the celebration of their love along with the first birthday of their adorable twin boys, and from the smiles on everyone’s faces you can see the joy this pair radiate.

Taking time out with their talented photographers, Hails & Shine, to have photos taken on the property (that once used to be a theme park) these images will leave you wishing you were there!

IN LYDIA AND TRENT’S WORDS…

The meeting.

Trent and I first met in Melbourne during November, 2013.

The one.

We realised we were made for each other when we moved in together after a few months of dating because we were having way too much fun together.

The proposal.

Trent popped the question when we were surfing in Indonesia together; he had the ring tied to his board shorts!

The planning.

Lydia did most of the planning at night when all three boys were in bed.

Style inspiration.

A carnival of love, music and colour. I had a vision that I just wanted lots of music and colour. I wanted the day to reflect love and happiness.

The dress.

My dress was a skirt and top from Asilio. I was just walking past the shop and fell in love with the skirt. I tried it on with Mum and loved it. I said I would get married in it and just like that we brought it. I put it in the cupboard and didn’t really think about it again. I later picked a cute, short dress with long sleeves from Tularosa online, which I changed into later at the reception.

Favourite moments.

We loved the Mariachi Band, and seeing each other at the ceremony was pretty special. Our wedding was held over the long weekend and most of the guests were camping on the property where it was held. After the reception we moved down to the property for the after party. This was set up around the tents so parents could put the kids to bed a keep partying. We had a DJ and a fire going, as well as homemade beef and coleslaw rolls with gravy and lamb souvlaki’s.

Traditions.

Our boys were the ring bearers.

The meaning of marriage.

Our marriage is about a celebration of our boys’ first year and a symbol of our commitment as a family to make the best life together full of laughter, happiness and adventure. We celebrated our wedding the day after the boys’ 1st birthday so it was a great excuse to get everyone together to thank them for all their love and support.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Simply Beautiful by Al Green

Reception entry: Las Mananitas by Grupo Brisa Catina, sung by the live Mariachi Band.

First dance songs: Down in Mexico by The Coasters

Words of wisdom

Create a day that reflects you and your partner and sit back and enjoy every moment.

Last words.

The wedding reception was held outside and we had a kid’s section set up with croquet, cricket, footy, and lots of games. We also had piñatas and a hole in one golf game set up which was so much fun!

LYDIA & TRENT’S TRIBE

Ceremony venue: Currabilli Receptions, Torquay. This was such and awesome venue. It was great as the guest didn’t have to go anywhere in between the ceremony and reception. There are also the most amazing spots for photos on this property as it used to have a theme park on it; all the photos were taken on the property.
