Real Wedding – Nicole & Michael, St Kilda VIC

For Nicole and Michael, an intimate wedding on a warm summers’ day, at an iconic Melbourne beach venue, was just the ticket to a mid-pandemic celebration, and they planned it all within one month!

Commencing proceedings with a church ceremony to celebrate their shared cultural heritage, the couple then soaked in the glorious views of the Stokehouse in sublime style.

Nicole’s show-stopping David Medwin frock was an effortlessly stylish addition to the micro celebration, that only further proves that small in numbers certainly doesn’t mean any less in heart

See these understated stunners as captured by Tribe talent Amanda Alessi here.

The meeting.

When I met Mick the electrician at the Middle Park Hotel in December 2018, sparks flew. While I’d like to think it was my charm and quick wit that invited a second date, it may well have been my pins!  This formed part of the inspiration for my 60’s-style short wedding dress.

The ‘one’.

We have developed a great friendship and partnership built on respect and having fun. We’re a good team.  We also like to make and create which has paved the way for number of different projects, some more successful than others!!

The proposal.

Mick proposed on a Go Boat ride along the Yarra.  Although the boat broke down (not part of the original plan!) and I got impatient, it turned out to be an excellent adventure and made for a very good story.

The planning.

A small wedding on a warm summers’ day, at an iconic Melbourne beach venue seemed like an excellent idea, particularly in a pandemic! So, this is what we did!  We gave ourselves one month to plan, so fair to say it had to be smooth operation! We also included a church ceremony at a Macedonian orthodox church, which celebrates our shared cultural heritage.

Words of wisdom.

When planning a wedding, go with services/styles that are tried and tested and that you like. Or those that come on good recommendation from like-minded people. Use a florist you’ve been happy with, a hairdresser who’s done your hair before and if friends/family have skills/talents they can offer then why not ask them to be involved!  I feel like a wedding should be an extension of your own sense of style and draw on what you’ve learnt in life when planning events.
