Innerbloom, and then the drums started
Amelia and Michael’s wedding was a study in timeless romance, with a classic black-and-white palette brought to life through soft candlelight and beautiful, considered details. Amelia walked down the aisle in a strapless gown with a dramatic full skirt and lace veil, carrying a bouquet of crisp white roses, while her bridesmaids in black created a striking contrast.
The church ceremony was particularly meaningful, with the couple choosing to have the same priest who baptised Michael marry them. From there, celebrations continued lakeside in Albert Park, where an abundance of candles brought warmth and romance to the reception, casting a beautiful glow across the evening.
Captured beautifully by Collections Photography, the day was filled with moments that felt entirely their own – from precious time with their bridal party between the ceremony and reception to an evening of good food, laughter and dancing. Elegant without feeling overly formal, and romantic without being fussy, Amelia and Michael’s celebration was a beautiful reflection of them as a couple.
The planning process.
It was amazing but challenging. The biggest surprise was how quickly everything comes together, yet somehow it all works out exactly how it is meant to. Weather was our biggest fear, and in the days leading up to it, we had to put a Plan B in place. We were very lucky, though, as all the rain had stopped by the time we left the church.
The ceremony.
It was my favourite part. It was very important to me to have a church wedding, and we were able to have the same priest who baptised my husband marry us.
The outfit.
I went to Mariana Hardwick. From the first initial consult, I felt so comfortable and supported through the process. I fell in love with my dress immediately as it was traditional yet timeless. The long train and veil completed it perfectly.
Style inspiration.
Timeless, simple and romantic, with lots and lots of candles. The candles made the whole place feel even more romantic and really suited us as a couple, as our favourite restaurant is also dimly lit.
Favourite moment.
All of it, honestly. However, I particularly loved having the photos taken between the ceremony and reception. It was so special to have that time just with our bridal party and each other during such a crazy day. Our photographer was also everything we needed during this time and made us all feel completely relaxed.
Wedding soundtrack.
We had a great mix of traditional Lebanese music and English songs. Our entrance was probably my favourite as it started as the song Innerbloom and then the drums started as we entered.
Funny stories (or near disasters).
We lost a few big candles on the night – one of which I accidentally took out with my dress while getting up for our speech!
Regrets.
Our only regret is that we wish we had tried some of the food! All of our guests have raved about how good it was, but we were too busy mingling to eat!
Words of wisdom.
Just absorb as much of the day as possible. Everyone told us this, but even four months later, it still feels like it was all a big dream.
