Earthy elegance on the Murray River

Having spent holidays along the Murray River, Tindarra Resort was always going to be the dream wedding destination for Taylor and Demi. With a shared love of camping, water skiing and the outdoors, choosing a venue by the river felt like the perfect fit for a couple who wanted their wedding to feel less like a formal affair and more like a weekend away with all their favourite people.

With the wonderful team at Tindarra taking care of every detail, the celebrations began with a pizza party by the pool the night before and wrapped up with a relaxed breakfast together on Sunday morning. In between, guests gathered for a beautiful riverside ceremony beneath an earthy floral arbour, with Taylor making a memorable entrance by speedboat. It was a setting that felt completely true to the couple.

That natural, laid-back feel flowed through every detail, from the beige and sage-green palette to Demi’s strapless gown and her decision to wear Converse all day. With beautiful florals, a marquee filled with loved ones and a dance floor that stayed busy well into the night, Taylor and Demi created a celebration that was relaxed, full of personality and all about making memories together.

Style inspiration.

Our day was very laid back, full of fun and captured our personalities and love perfectly. Taylor and I are campers and water skiers, so we find ourselves spending a lot of our holidays in Echuca. We have both done this since we were born and both have lifelong family memories there. Our day included all of our nearest and dearest friends so we loved having an entire weekend dedicated to hanging out with them and celebrating our love.

Planning process.

It was pretty good, actually! Pip, the events coordinator from Tindarra, was incredible with helping keep us on track with everything and had some great suggestions when we got stuck. We felt so at ease every step of the way. She took care of absolutely everything on our wedding weekend, and we felt we did not have to worry at all.

We loved the added bonus of having a pizza party the night before our wedding, with the bar open by the pool, and having brekky with everyone by the café the next morning, so we had plenty of time to speak to all of our guests!

Dream team.

I found Tindarra Resort via Instagram whilst searching for the perfect wedding venue. It is a 3-hour drive from home to Echuca so we wanted a chill, laid back, fun weekend event for ourselves and our guests. We found Monica (Love By Shae Photography) via Tindarra’s Instagram posts and absolutely fell in love with her vibe. We got a lot of ideas from her and are forever grateful for how helpful, kind and involved she was with our perfect day.

The ceremony.

Our celebrant! Amy from Lil’ Vow Wow was the absolute best choice we could have ever made. She was so laid back and fun, and delivered a ceremony that reflected exactly that. I don’t think anyone could have captured our story as perfectly as she did. Many of our guests made the comment that they felt immersed in the ceremony and our story. She made us feel so comfortable and we genuinely enjoyed the ceremony experience thanks to her. We also loved the ceremony space being right on the edge of the river. It was very ‘us’ and made us feel comfortable that we were in an environment that we love.

The outfits.

I went to Luv Bridal in Chadstone for my wedding dress. The girls who work there are absolutely incredible at making you feel special and embracing the excitement of the day. I never felt rushed and they ensured I tried on every possible dress that I felt was my vibe. Once I found the perfect one, they were so supportive and wonderful with the rest of the process. So glad I went there. Taylor went to Menz Club and Myer to put together his outfit. The person at Menz Club was so incredibly helpful with helping him put together the vision he wanted!

Favourite detail.

We loved how earthy it all was. We stuck to our beige and greens for most things, but it truly added to our day and made it feel so calm and comfortable. We love camping and being by the river, and although most people see weddings as some big fancy event, we felt it really was an event that reflected us and what we loved. Our florals were done by Harly from Grace and Flo Florist. She captured our vision so perfectly. We were in love with our hanging installation in the marquee and our gorgeous arbor for the ceremony. It captured that beautiful, earthy, natural vibe we were after perfectly.

Favourite moments.

We genuinely loved our ceremony as it was very us, and we loved having all of our closest friends and family there to witness it. We also loved that once the formalities were all done, our DJ/acoustic musician, Nic Vercoe, was bringing all the right vibes for a great party. We loved celebrating with our friends and family and have honestly never had so much fun. The staff at Tindarra brought around plenty of food and ensured the drinks were flowing all night as well, which just added to the best party vibe ever!

Wedding Soundtrack.

We had Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse as our wedding song. All of our guests know it, and once the beat picked up, we invited all of our guests onto the dance floor to join in. This was a good start to a super fun evening! Nic had all the right songs to sing along and dance to the whole evening as well. No one could leave the dance floor because the last song was always just as good as the last! Would hire him all over again in a heartbeat!

Funny stories (or near disasters).

We went out in the boat for sunset photos with our photographer, Mon. Taylor was to pop the cork on a champagne bottle so we could each have a glass of champagne. Mon reminded him to keep a hand over the cork but Taylor seemed to forget that detail! Mon managed to capture on camera the cork flying up in the air and then hitting me square in the middle of my head! It definitely did not hurt but we laughed that it was actually caught on camera. It is an image we will laugh at for the rest of our lives now!

Regrets.

OMG absolutely no regrets! We wouldn’t have changed any of our vendors for the world. We were so blessed with the most perfect team and would recommend them all in a heartbeat to absolutely anyone getting married. We had the most perfect day and couldn’t thank them enough for all of their efforts.

Words of wisdom.

I wore Converse under my dress for my big day, and honestly, my feet even hurt being in them all day, so I couldn’t imagine being in tall, uncomfortable shoes!

Our biggest tip is to be sure and do your research about your vendors. They are what makes your day special, so take your time and choose people who best reflect you and your day!
