As we look back at 2025’s real weddings, one detail consistently has us saving to Pinterest – the cake.

More than just dessert, the wedding cake is both a moment and a sweet signature style statement. This year, we’ve seen cakes that lean into intentional minimalism, fresh floral adornment, bold colour choices, and chic considered design.

Whether you’re envisioning a tiered showstopper, something sleek and understated, or a cake that breaks all the rules, this year’s designs prove there’s no single way to do cakes right – simply make it your own.

Here’s our roundup of the best cakes of 2025 – the creations that caught our eye, the trends that landed, and the inspiration you need for your own slice of celebration. Scroll through and find your moment.

Vintage vibes.

It’s the 2024 trend that has continued to dominate this year, giving us elaborate piping, vintage bows and sweet typography. Vintage cakes prove to be a favourite across the spectrum of wedding styles, from more laid back to chic, elegant soirees – this is one sweet treat that can be adapted to suit and will always be beautifully impactful.

Minimalist elegance.

Less is genuinely more. Clean lines, restrained colour palettes, and considered simplicity – these cakes prove that you don’t need layers of detail to make an impact. Minimalist cakes bring a modern, elevated moment to any celebration.

Modern Florals.

Fresh blooms meet buttercream in 2025’s most romantic cakes. Whether delicate cascades or bold statement florals, these designs blur the line between cake and arrangement – creating show-stopping centrepieces that photograph beautifully and taste even better.

Vanilla visions.

Neutral never felt so intentional. Soft whites, creams, and ivory tones create a canvas for texture, shape, and genuine style. These cakes prove that simplicity in colour doesn’t mean simplicity in design.

Chic Maximalism

Go big and give queen energy. This year’s maximalist cakes embrace colour, pattern, and personality – they’re unapologetically decorated and entirely captivating. These are cakes that command attention and set the tone for the celebration.

I Do Berries.

Nature’s candy steals the show. Fresh berries add colour, texture, and genuine elegance to cakes this year. Whether scattered, cascading, or carefully placed, berries bring a fresh, seasonal touch.

Do it your way.

Lean in to what you love, create an experience for you and your guests, or simply offer up your favourite dessert – all and any option will be gorgeous and memorable if they are intentional, and true to you as a couple.

“We never wanted a traditional wedding cake as such, and we liked the idea of a ‘dessert table’. I had been to a new café/bakery in Geelong and loved their cakes. I chatted with the owner, Matilda, to see if she could make us a variety of different cakes and tarts for our wedding. She created four incredible desserts, and we got so many compliments on them.”

“The stunning European-style heritage building of Customs House gave our wedding a European flavour. That, with our recent trip to Italy and fond love of tiramisu, then inspired our wedding cake. We wanted a timeless, elegant and sophisticated soiree feel for the day.”

Whether you choose tradition, minimalism, maximalism, or something entirely your own – your cake should taste as good as it looks and feel entirely like you.
