Real Bridal Shower – Christina, Sydney NSW

Pre-wedding celebrations don’t get much chicer than Christina’s sophisticated Sydney soiree.

The two-word brief for her bridal shower was ‘elegant and bold’ and when the host doubles as the event stylist, and the bride’s sister, the results are as exquisitely on trend as they are lovingly personalised.

Nicole of Alegria Events anchored the aesthetics in abundant floral displays featuring a brightly hued pallet of pink, red, purple and orange.

A reoccurring bow motif was sprinkled tastefully throughout the styling, stationery and sculptural cake design while subtle pearl details and a feminine typography met the elevated mood of the lady’s lunch.

The bride-to-be’s pleated white Acler dress was perfectly on-theme adorned with a single oversized flower on the front, stylishly reminiscent of something fictional fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw would have worn in Sex and the City.

The meeting.

We met at a high school dance when we were 15 years old. He asked me for a dance and the rest was history!

The proposal.

We went for a walk up to the Barrenjoey lighthouse at Palm Beach, New South Wales, and he popped the question at the headland overlooking the beach.

Planning process.

It was fairly smooth sailing and a stress-free process for me to plan the bridal shower with the help of Alegria Events. My sister Nicole is actually the Creative Director, and from the moment I got engaged, I knew I wanted her to work her magic on my bridal shower. She occasionally checked in with me during the weeks leading up to the day and shared some snippets of what she had in store, but I also wanted an element of surprise on the day, so I had utmost trust in her to create something special.

Style inspiration.

My only words to Nicole were ‘create something elegant and bold’, and the rest I left in her safe hands! I found a lot of inspiration via Instagram, whether it be trawling through suppliers’ pages or seeing real weddings – I constantly saved photos and shared these with Nicole beforehand too.

Favourite moment.

The whole day was so special. I couldn’t pick one favourite moment – there are just too many! From the moment I walked into Ventuno and saw the most breathtaking backdrop for my special day to being showered with so much love by my closest friends and family, the excitement was something else.

Words of wisdom.

Firstly, for anyone planning a pre-wedding event my advice would be to personalise it. My sister already knew me so well, but the more personal and meaningful the touches (like favorite colors or themes), the more memorable the day will be. Secondly, keep it stress-free. It’s easy to get caught up in the details, but have fun with the process as it comes and goes so quickly. Thirdly, capture the moments – hire a photographer or designate someone to take lots of photos, then you get to relive the day over and over again!
