Real Elopement – Joel & Keeley, Sandford TAS

Keeley & Joel’s elopement redefined ‘less is more’ in the most breathtaking way. It was a simple and elegant affair, just as they had envisioned, with the most exquisite backdrop of The Point house overlooking Frederick Henry Bay and May’s Point surf break below.

With an intimate guest list, just them and their parents, their day radiated warmth and love.

Every detail was thoughtfully curated; everything from Keeley’s stunning Prea James two piece with light chiffon neck scarf draped exquisitely behind her, Joel’s effortless charisma in his open collared suit, to their privately prepared celebratory dinner.

Together, with David Muir to capture it all, they embraced the beauty of simplicity, allowing their love to take center stage. With the waves crashing below and the golden light fading into the horizon, Keeley and Joel’s elopement was not just a celebration, but a reflection of who they are—effortless, deeply connected, and entirely their own.

The meeting.

We met the old school way, through mutual friends out one night and then his best friend then started dating my roommate so we started hanging out and then fell for each other.

The ‘one’.

When we could spend hours just talking about anything and everything.

The proposal.

Joel proposed at our favourite Japanese restaurant where we spent many first dates. It was just us at the restaurant and both our immediate families joined us to celebrate over dinner.

Planning process.

Our inspiration was for the day to be fun and relaxed with the elopement but also timeless and chic so we could look back and still love every element of our day.

Style inspiration.

Most of our inspiration came from real weddings as it gave us a true perspective of how things turned out or worked well.

The ceremony.

Our wedding was only us and both of our parents so it was very intimate however, we still did it as you would any traditional wedding. My Dad walked me down our ‘said’ aisle. We did a ceremony with vows and even a petal toss at the end. It felt like it was just us there and there was no pressure or nerves whatsoever.

The outfit.

I had a trip to Sydney with my close girlfriends and tried on over 20 dresses, I hated them all. I didn’t think I would find anything that I loved until I headed to Sunshine Coast with one friend one day last minute. I went to Sphere Bridal and found the most amazing set which matched both me and the day perfectly. For Joel, he picked his suit the week of…

Favourite moments.

Reading our vows to each other and just taking it all in together.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage for us is committing yourself to the person that makes you the most happy to be with for the rest of your life

Funny stories or near disasters.

On the way to the accommodation our rental car boot opened while we were driving up a steep road. All our luggage and garment bags flew out onto the road. It was so lucky that there were no cars behind us otherwise it would have been a disaster. We couldn’t stop laughing which in a normal situation would be so stressful. Really just shows how relaxed we were.

Words of wisdom.

Trust your vendors! They have so much experience and really know their stuff.

Joel and Keeley’s choice of having a Content Creator to capture real time moments was a no brainer. And we have just the place for you to start looking at hiring your own right here.
