Real Wedding – Alexis & Luke, Flowerdale VIC
It was a fabulous floral affair when Alexis and Luke were married at Flowerdale Estate in central Victoria.
Their gorgeous garden setting was the perfect location to exchange vows in front of their favourite people and Alexis wowed everyone in her stunning Suzanne Harward gown.
Despite the weather threatening snow, there was none to be seen and and despite cooler temperatures on the day, it just gave them more reason to kick up their heels and dance the night away.
Tribe talent, Smith + Archer, captured all the magical moments and so much more, so get scrolling this dreamy day.
In Alexis’ words…
The meeting.
At a music festival in 2011
The ‘one’.
When I had his baby!!
The proposal.
Luke took me to a beautiful rooftop restaurant in Phillip Island and got down on one knee – the proposal took me by total surprise!
The process.
It was a big effort when you have two kids under five and also run a business! But we got there with the help of family, friends and our suppliers.
Style inspiration.
I knew I always wanted a big wedding, in a garden setting with lots of flowers and colours! Surrounded by all my favourite people in the world! And that is exactly what we achieved. Hattie and the Bairn Tribe really helped bring that vision to life.
The dress.
I first saw my dress online and the assistant who was helping me at Suzanne Harward insisted that I try on lots of other dress styles before I was allowed to try on my dress, just to make sure that I did love it. When I tried it on we all cried (me, my mum and the lady who worked in the store!).
Favourite moments.
Honestly, I loved every minute, but probably dancing up a storm with everyone I love at our reception.
Meaning of marriage.
Love, laughter and compromise
Wedding soundtrack.
Bridal party entrance: I’ve had the time of my life by Dirty Dancing (live)
Cake cutting: Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran (live)
First dance: Love someone by Lukas Graham (live), followed by I wanna dance with somebody by Whitney Houston (live)
Last Song: New York, New York by frank Sinatra (live)
We had an acoustic duo perform our ceremony music, then the band played at our reception. The lead singer stayed back when the band finished to play a DJ set. We asked all of our guests to request when they returned their RSVP – so it was special to know every song there had been specifically chosen by us, or our guests!
Funny stories (or near disasters).
The weather leading up to the day gave us a bit of anxiety … they were predicting snow! It was cold on the day but luckily there was no snow (and we even had some sun during our ceremony!)
Words of wisdom.
I know its easy to say, and perhaps not so easy to do – but try not to stress, don’t sweat the small stuff, and be prepared for things to go wrong, that’s half the fun of it!
Love the idea of eloping? Be inspired by Lauren and Brook’s dreamy elopement with florals that will leave you breathless.
