Real Wedding – Amber & Warwick, Lancefield VIC
The stunning charm of Lancemore Macedon Ranges immediately captivated Amber and Warwick, making it the ideal backdrop for their intimate 100-guest wedding. They chose a beautiful autumn date, crafting a classic palette of black, white, and green, accented with touches of yellow to seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings. Their vision for an elegant, timeless celebration came to life with the love and support of family and friends.
Evermore Weddings captured every detail, from the breathtaking helicopter and Rolls Royce entrances to the joy and energy shared on the dance floor, preserving the magic of their day in unforgettable images.
The meeting.
We’re a Tinder success story from back in 2016. Amber had just moved to Melbourne from Brisbane, so we met at her short-stay apartment and got to know each other over a bottle of red.
The ‘one’.
Pretty quickly after we started dating. We both liked the same music and types of food. We wanted to travel to the same places and we wanted similar things in life. It was a pretty cool time in our relationship to realise where we were heading.
The proposal.
We went to Queenstown, NZ with some friends in August 2022 for a ski trip. We were doing our final run at Cardrona for the holiday, late in the day the sun was shining and it was a perfect moment to ‘get the knee wet’ as Warwick says.
Planning process.
We only decided about six months out that we wanted to get married. Therefore, our planning kicked into gear once we locked in Friday 3rd May, 2024… it was all systems go. It was pretty cruisy at the start, we both had strong ideas on what we wanted, and luckily our ideas were similar. But as the day got closer, we started to realise we had a lot more to organise than what we expected or imagined. We did a lot of the work ourselves, with the help of family members, so that added a level of stress that we didn’t foresee. In the end, it all came together!
Style inspiration.
Elegant, classy and timeless, but also super fun and stress-less. Instagram is obviously a hotspot for wedding content, and we took a lot of inspiration from there. We also found inspiration from friends’ weddings and knowing what to do, and what to avoid!
We stuck to a crisp colour palette of white and green with hints of pale yellow and had a Black-Tie dress code. Surprisingly, but also to be expected, the autumn tones from the leaves at Lancemore Macedon made our photos pop even more!
Real wedding inspiration on Ivory Tribe definitely helped in the planning process, as it was really lovely to see how other couples brough their mood boards to life. Pinterest and Instagram were also amazing tools to have when it came to floral designs and table settings.
The ceremony.
The ‘Secret Garden’ location with the Cypress trees surrounding us was nothing like we’d seen before. It was one of our favourite elements from the day. In typical Warwick and Amber fashion, the reading of the vows and romantic ‘dip’ when walking down the aisle didn’t exactly go to plan, however it added a bit of humour to the ceremony. We had everyone we loved in a place that we loved, what else could you want?
The look.
Amber: I knew I wanted something elegant but comfortable and something I felt like myself in. Most importantly, I didn’t want to feel restricted on the dance floor! Initially, dress shopping was quite overwhelming and I wasn’t sure if I’d left it too late to order the dress of my dreams.
Jemma at Ivory Thread in South Yarra was an absolute dream to work with. She made me feel at ease and provided honest feedback at times where it mattered the most. She really understood my vision and ensured my dress was made with enough time to allow for any alterations.
Warwick: I’d been to Formal Red in Richmond previously as a groomsmen, Spiro and George were a great help and made it super easy. I wanted the same, hassle-free experience for my own wedding so it was the only place I went. It feels like a ‘real’ suit shop, that’s all they do, and they do it well.
Favourite moments.
Amber: There are a couple that come to mind. Walking into our ceremony location and seeing Warwick for the first time was pretty special. Getting picked up by the Rolls Royce and driving to the ceremony location with Mum and Dad, is a memory I’ll never forget. Last but definitely not least was seeing the blood, sweat and tears that went into all the floral arrangements that my father-in-law had meticulously designed for the first time, was particularly remarkable.
Warwick: I guess you could say it was ‘pre-wedding’ but flying into the ceremony in two helicopters with my groomsmen was something I’ll never forget, especially as I’d managed to keep it a surprise for ⅔ of them. Seeing Amber pull up in the old Rolls was something special, and seeing her walking down the aisle looking even more beautiful than I’d imagined. Other than that, the speeches were great. I got absolutely roasted by everyone, but it was all in jest and everyone was having a great time.
Meaning of marriage.
It means unity. Attacking life together and having each other’s back. Working hard for each other and our future family.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley
Reception Entry: Be My Lover by La Bouche
First Dance: Adore U by Fred Again
Funny stories or near disasters.
Warwick kept the helicopters a secret from the groomsmen and had to think of a reason to drive towards Essendon Airport (the opposite direction to the venue). The story was we had to get Amber’s ring resized and it would only be ready the day of the wedding – the groomsmen were livid when I said we were collecting it on the way and we couldn’t get an Uber to drop it off. All was sweet when we finally arrived and the surprise was revealed.
Seeing the cardboard cutout of Barney (our dog) that Kerry (our celebrant – I Do With Diamond) brought along to the reception. It made our day!
Amber’s Mum had a beautiful speech planned during the reception, however was brought to a flood of tears after her first three words and couldn’t continue.
Planning surprises.
It was all the smaller things, and probably the least significant things. Everyone has venue, flowers, guestlist sorted, but table settings, seating charts, name cards, menus etc – who thinks of that stuff! The planning and timing of the ceremony and reception. We didn’t realise how many things we had to jam into an afternoon and evening.
Words of wisdom.
Let go of your expectations as no matter what happens, it will be the best day of your lives! Do what makes you happy and if it feels overwhelming, ask for help! Things will go wrong, but don’t think too much about it.
Your guests won’t care. One last thing, prioritise family photos and make sure you have enough daylight left to get photos. One of our only regrets was not allowing enough daylight or time for family photos.
