Real Wedding – Bernie & Mark, Dromana VIC

Real Wedding – Bernie & Mark, Dromana VIC

Keeping the day classy and fun, Bernie and Mark’s ultimate goal was to get all their family and friends in one place and party the night away.

Tanglewood Estate was a beautiful backdrop for their wedding day. With Mark building the arbour and Bernie’s mother creating the floral arrangements for it, it was such a special place for them to exchange their vows and Bernie stunned in her Mariana Hardwick gown.

You can tell by the images by Tess Follett that this darling duo simply beamed all day with love, and we hope you enjoy scrolling all the special moments.

In Bernie’s words…

The meeting.

Mark and I first met at University, 14 years ago! Mark had driven to Australia from Ireland with three mates who all joined us at the wedding. When I say he drove, he drove across Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, China and then eventually made his way to Australia.

It was at University that Mark became friends with Jill, who stands in our bridal party. And Jill introduced us to each other, our cupid!

The ‘one’.

Mark always says he knew straight away. Mark went back home to Ireland after his studies and said he made plans to come back to Australia and sweep me off my feet!

I just knew!

The proposal.

Mark and I travelled to Spain to be a part of our best friends’ wedding, Mark and Pilar. They returned the honour being in our bridal party. After their wedding we flew to Barcelona, and then Mark surprised me with flights to Santorini. A place that he knew was special to me as I had painted a huge landscape of Santorini and told Mark that I really wanted to go there but felt like it wasn’t going to be a possibility for a long time.

Plans don’t always go right. However, Mark got terribly sick for days, luggage got lost – with the ring in it and the romantic balcony room Mark had booked was not available. But things improved when the owners of the hotel heard of Mark’s romantic plans and let us stay in a huge house they had with beautiful views.

So finally Mark chose his moment.  He walked over to me by doing a nervous Irish jig and then got down on bended knee and asked me to marry him.  I said yes!

The process.

As Mark is from Ireland and we love to travel, we had a number of years looking at destination wedding locations. In the end, we are so happy for choosing to get married in Australia. Tanglewood Estate was absolutely perfect. We just loved having all our friends and family in this location to share in our big day.

Style inspiration.

Classy and fun!

The dress.

My dress was by Mariana Hardwick, the team was fantastic in helping find a dress that suited me.

Favourite moments.

There was so many special moments on the day. We absolutely loved seeing all our family and friends together in one place. We truly are beaming from all the love we received!

Mark and our friend Zack built a beautiful arbour and my mum created the floral arrangements for it.  This was very special for us to stand in front of during the ceremony.

Meaning of marriage.

A day to celebrate the love we have for each other with our friends and family.
