Real Wedding – Billie & Tyson, Maffra VIC

Billie and Tyson’s dreamy, modern celebration was filled with elegance and romance. The impeccable Mewburn Park was the gorgeous country setting for this soirée – a celebration oozing charm, with crisp white accents and clean, modern lines set against soft florals and textural linen pieces – the amalgamation of a dream setting for a dream couple.

The post-pandemic energy of Billie and Tyson’s guests only added to the electric atmosphere of their loved-up day, whereby a heartfelt and romantic ceremony set the tone for their loved ones and paved the way to the dance floor of their dreams into the night.

After a decade of loving one another, making the step toward to become married couldn’t have been a more magical experience for Billie and Tyson, and as Samantha Elizabeth has so beautifully captured – every aspect of this elegant occasion is one to be remembered.

The meeting.

In 2011, Tyson’s football team had beaten my hometowns team in the grand final and he had caught my eye. On a night out soon after we bumped into each other, one cheeky head lock later and we danced the night away, exchanging numbers and a cheeky kiss. He asked me out on a date not long after and that was the start of our forever.

The ‘one’.

Very early on, however many moments contributed. The night we met, I genuinely felt electricity holding his hand on the dancefloor. We had an instant and obvious attraction that blossomed into love very quickly.

The proposal.

It was a casual Wednesday afternoon on November 4 2020, Tys insisted we visit my family farm which was one of our favourite places. Little did I know Tys had been to Melbourne to pick up my ring that day, was full of nerves and brainstorming how to propose. He couldn’t stop thinking about it and wasted no time. So, on that misty and still afternoon at the farm overlooking the mountains, Tys got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

The planning process.

We knew summer and daylight savings was important to us, having booked our venue and date around this everything else fell into place. Our vision was brought to life by our talented stylist, and I enjoyed doing some DIY projects along the way. There was such an electric vibe at our wedding not only because we were celebrating our love but having been the first big event for many since the pandemic began.

Style inspiration.

A mix of dreamy, modern and elegant romance was our theme for the wedding. Crisp shades of white, clean lines, softened with florals, linen, and vases. Our beautiful florals were a mix of white playa blanca roses, phalaenopsis orchards, anthuriums, delphinium, snap dragons, babies breathe, hydrangeas and disbuds. Our incredible venue encompassed country property charm, a clear marquee, established gardens and luscious greenery – ticking all our boxes and more.

The ceremony.

Our garden ceremony was centered in front of a large oak tree with ivy floor coverage and a dreamy grounded floral arch. We wanted our ceremony to be heartfelt, and a true reflection of our relationship. It was a special moment walking down the aisle with my dad and when both our beautiful mums signed and witnessed our marriage, they didn’t know this until the moment they were called upon. We wrote our own vows which was a very moving moment reading them to each other. We paid tribute to our loved ones in heaven by lighting candles for each angel, giving us all a moment to think about them and feel their presence. Our celebrant was incredible and included a touching poem titled “All I know about love” by Neil Gaiman.

The outfits.

It was the first dress I tried on, my mum started crying immediately and I knew it was the one. My dress was an ivory crepe de chine silk which was luxuriously smooth. The perfect elegant, effortless, and striking dress I had dreamed of. My veil was ivory Italian tulle, trimmed with delicate French eyelash lace that gave a dramatic and romantic touch. I also wore a large ivory fedora hat and a floral silk head scarf draped with pearls for photos and the reception.

Tys wore a classic black dinner tux, white shirt, bow tie and shiny black dress shoes. He looked incredibly handsome.

My three bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning in their silk, champagne coloured, mid length dresses in different styles.

Favourite moment.

Hiding in the garden watching my bridesmaids walk down before me, then walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Tyson’s face. It was a moment I will always hold dear. The excitement, energy and nerves on the day is a cocktail of surreal emotions you will never experience again. Honestly the whole entire day was utterly magical from sunrise to sunset there were so many moments that we adored.

Meaning of marriage.

Having been together for ten years, marriage for us means becoming one officially and continuing the rest of our lives together until our last days. Accepting each other, sharing our dreams, supporting one another, promising to be there through life’s triumphs and highlights whilst remaining lovers and best friends through it all.

Wedding soundtrack.

Planning process.

Apart from planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic (don’t recommend) and navigating the stress of that, we were very blessed with a perfect day and feel tremendously grateful that everything went as planned.

I loved planning our wedding and found the process a lot of fun.

Words of wisdom.

Don’t get caught up in things you can’t control but instead invest that energy into the things you can. Trust your vendors and trust yourself. When you get caught up remember you’re marrying your best friend and that’s what truly matters. Let go off all expectations, enjoy the process and know it will all come together on the day.
