Real Wedding – Charlotte & Jack, Nagambie VIC

Charlotte and Jack sure know how to pull together a show-stopping celebration.

Having well and truly surpassed that infamous seven-year-itch, the high school sweethearts celebrated their love at the glorious Michelton Wines, with modern, rustic touches that completed their vision for an elegant but relaxed celebration.

After working closely with Oglia-Loro Couture for her Brownlow Medal gown that went viral when she accompanied her AFL beau, it was only natural that Charlotte would work with this leading fashion designer again. Together they created not one, but two sublime gowns that wowed.

Choosing a standout moment of this dream day is simply impossible, so take a look from behind the lens of the wonderful Chloe May.

In Charlotte’s words…

The meeting.

We first met back in 2008 when Jack was in year 8 at school and I was in year 9. Fast forward three years and we were both still at the same school and started dating and we have been together ever since!

The ‘one’.

When you know you know! I knew a year into our relationship because Jack is so loyal and caring, I knew there would be nothing to make us part ways.

The proposal.

Jack proposed at Lindenderry in Red Hill on the 9th of March 2018.

We had been together for seven years so I knew it was coming at some stage, but he definitely surprised me!!

Planning process.

I had no idea how much time and emails go into planning a wedding! It is quite overwhelming but ticking things off slowly and writing lots of lists definitely helped!

We knew what style we wanted and ran with it!

The venue was the first thing ticked off then our amazing photographer and videographers.

Style inspiration.

We really wanted a modern yet rustic touch for our wedding which was perfect given Mitchelton’s setting. We absolutely loved Mitchelton as it combined all our favourite things.

Modern (with a pool), and they also have a huge hotel so all our guests could stay which was perfect.

Mitchelton’s country setting gave our wedding a personal touch with Jack growing up on the river in Echuca, so the Goulburn river backdrop added a sentimental touch for us.

We also loved that they were so flexible and allowed us to have the whole wedding and reception outdoors.

The outfit.

A lot of time and planning went into my two amazing gowns for our wedding day. I originally sat down with Sam from Oglialoro Couture after he created my amazing gown for the Brownlow Medal awards night. Given the response we received from that moment, we knew we could create more magic for the wedding! We initially discussed options and Sam began sketching some gorgeous dresses for me and from there he created my dream wedding dresses.

We really wanted to create two completely unique looks that still complimented each other while being able to celebrate the ceremony and the reception in different looks.

A LOT of time and detail went into creating these bespoke gowns! We had a total of 5 fittings after our initial sit down and sketch meeting. My first gown was constructed with Italian silk faille and it was fully hand beaded with details in tiny mirror backed Swarovski crystals, thousands of both bugle and seed beads, hand embroidered floral stems using bullion thread and silk thread foliage. To add another dimension, cut outs were strategically placed throughout the gown adding more depth and a lightness to the overall look.

My second gown was everything that I’d envisioned with Sam, it was classic at the top and modern/party at the bottom! I loved the unique shorts feature and being able to change into something for the reception that was fun and had amazing movement so we could dance all night! Jack and I had so much fun when we were taking our photos in my second gown, it was so windy and this played in our favour as we were able to create some beautiful memories and amazing photos from the wind shifting the skirt element of the dress in our photos!

Favourite moment.

I think it was saying our vows to each other, but dancing the night away was definitely a highlight for both of us. As well as finally seeing our months of planning come to life.

Meaning of marriage.

To me marriage means being there for one another when they want or need it. Loving each other unconditionally.

Wedding soundtrack.

Bridesmaids aisle walk: Tenerife Sea (So In Love) – Ed Sheeran acoustic cover

Bride aisle walk: Can’t Help Falling in Love – Elvis Presley acoustic cover

First dance song: If I Ain’t Got You – Alicia keys

Funny stories (or near disasters).

We actually didn’t have any disasters in the lead up! We were away a week before the wedding with no internet which made it so difficult to tie loose ends. So we were like crazy people trying to get service to send emails which made it difficult!

Planning surprises.

How much time, work and emails go into planning a wedding!

I found that you had to write a lot of lists and tick off categories before moving onto the next thing. For example, knowing how many guests before getting quotes on food and drinks as well as timesheets!

Words of wisdom.

I have a few!

Don’t sweat the small stuff. If things don’t go to plan on the day don’t let it get to you, 99% of the time none of your guests will even realise. However, make sure you have suppliers you can trust and know what they are doing!

It is your day, block out all the multiple voices and opinions and do it how you want- at the end of the day it is about committing to one another and that is what truly matters.

Also, timesheets – they are a lifesaver!

Victoria is chock-full with amazing wedding locations and the mighty Murray plays host to many. See some of our favourites by clicking here.
