Real Wedding – Georgia & Jack, St Kilda VIC

Vibrant, vivacious and infectiously upbeat, Georgia and Jack’s gorgeously colour-filled celebration is a true treat for the senses. From their ease-filled, grounded approach to their planning to the unfolding of their epic day, this is one wedding that feels full of excitement and genuine, effortless romance.

Georgia chose a beautifully bold gown by Aje, in the perfect shade of watermelon pink and adorned with playfully chic layers and an oversized rosette, to wear down the aisle to Jack. We love a groom who out-plans his bride when it comes to their fits, and Jack’s attention to detail truly paid off – he looks ultra-suave in his salmon pink jacket and tan chinos, aligning with the theming to perfection.

Bridesmaids in neon vermillion and softest pink, holding florals in a similarly colour-fuelled palette, complete the look of elevated summer sunsets. And the perfect photographer for such an upbeat affair? The one and only Kyra Boyer, who created a true testament to the aesthetic glory.

There to ensure the aural was as stunning as the visual were the legends at Melbourne Entertainment Co, ensuring Georgia’s switch to sleek white kicks was more than justified as the party continued well into the night.

Scroll on for a colour bomb of fun and sweetly authentic romance.

The meeting.

We met online in August 2016 on Jack’s first weekend living in Melbourne!

The ‘one’.

Jack had to move to Brisbane for work about six months after we met, and there was no question that we were moving there together.

The proposal.

We went out for lunch at Ripponlea Food & Wine to celebrate a year since we bought our house. Then, when we got home, Jack proposed in front of the Christmas tree with our puppy Franklin!

Planning process.

We had so much fun with it; we found vendors were really excited to be doing something so bright and colourful, so they had lots of ideas that were so helpful to us.

Style inspiration.

We wanted a bright and colourful party with our friends and family; we just wanted it to be a fun celebration!

For inspiration, we looked at real weddings and followed all the Instagram tags of their suppliers of the aspects we loved.

The ceremony.

It was perfect, informal, and told the story of our time together. We had the ceremony at St Kilda Botanic Gardens, a place we walk regularly; it’s so nice to be able to go back there now.

The look.

Finding the wedding dress was such a quick process; I knew as soon as I saw my dress, it was perfect. I ordered it online a couple of weeks after we got engaged!

Jack’s suit was a different story; he wanted it made and for it to be a surprise to me. He showed my mum throughout to make sure it kept with the theme – it was perfect!

Favourite moments.

We ended up going to Ripponlea Food & Wine between our ceremony and reception for a quiet cocktail and photos with our wedding party! It was really nice to relax with our closest friends and have a debrief on the ceremony and how everyone went getting ready.

Meaning of marriage.

Supporting each other and taking the time to have fun together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Georgy Girl by The Seekers

Reception entry:  I’ll be there for you by The Rembrandts

First dance: Everlasting Love by Natalie Cole

Funny stories or near disasters.

There was a man walking a tightrope between the trees in the gardens – free entertainment for the guests before we started!

Planning surprises.

Nothing seems like it is going to come together until the actual wedding day, and then everything just happens while you aren’t even there!

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy yourself! It doesn’t have to be stressful; just take the time to work through the plan together, and it’ll be the most magical experience!

Love Georgia’s non-white wedding gown? Real wedding bride Ame also chose to forgo that tradition, and opted for a similarly bright and bold colour palette. See all the gorgeous glory of their bold and bright celebration, here.
