Real Wedding – Georgia & Mason, Richmond

A margarita tower, Oreo-flavoured wedding cake, slippers for the dance floor and travel tips as guest book contributions? Georgia and Mason’s epic Melbourne celebration could not have been more personality-infused, with an effortlessly relaxed undercurrent.

Their venue, Glasshaus Bruke, felt representative of the type of setting they create in their own home – Art Deco architectural styling, filled with foliage – and their A+ team of vendors both gelled with them and uplifted the day to perfection.

We love the chic, understated style of this day and simply adore the good feels that infuse every visually vibrant shot by the legendary Love Bomb Photos.

Scroll on to revel in the fun!

The meeting.

We met at a local nightclub in the ‘burbs called Blitz in 2013, and a few too many free drink cards on entry.

The one.

We’ve just always felt connected. I don’t think there was ever a clear moment. But lots of reflection over the last 11 years about how much we’ve grown together.

The proposal.

Mason surprised Georgia with a weekend away in Byron Bay. She was immediately suspicious of him, and got her nails done, because he never plans anything. But he couldn’t have planned it better with a sunrise proposal on the beach with a photographer to catch the moment.

Planning process.

We decided to have a longer engagement to allow ourselves more time to plan (and save!)

We knew GlassHaus was the perfect venue as soon as we stepped inside, and neither of us could stop smiling.

We chose all our vendors because they meshed with our styles, both aesthetically and personality-wise. The result was a team that just felt like friends, who wanted to celebrate just as hard as us.

Style inspiration.

We live in an Art Deco apartment in Balaclava with lots of plants. Glasshaus felt so familiar to us when we inspected it. The architecture and greenery were on par with our style.

We always wanted our wedding to be a giant party. We both wanted to integrate elements of timelessness with our own personalities. The results were a margarita tower, an Oreo-flavoured wedding cake, getting our guests to change into slippers on the d-floor and asking our guests to recommend a travel destination by writing in the Lonely Planet travel book instead of the traditional signage book.

For inspiration, I loved seeing real wedding content. The rise of docu-style videography and wedding content creation makes visualising how a wedding will look and feel so much easier.

The ceremony.

We booked Marry Me Megan because OBVIOUSLY she is the best in the biz and so highly recommended. But I don’t think either of us realised just how amazing she is until our ceremony. She has this incredible way of making it feel so intimate for the couple, but also drawing in the guests. We got so many compliments about our ceremony.

Our favourite part was having Georgia’s younger brother sing her down the aisle to an acoustic version of Florence and the Machine’s You’ve Got the Love.

The outfits.

Mason always wanted a classic black tux but added his own flair with a velvet jacket and Doc Marten loafers.

Georgia fell in love with a gown at Karen Willis Holmes on High Street.

Georgia’s second look was a mini dress from Eliya the Label.

Favourite moments.

After our first look at Fitzroy Gardens, we escaped the heat with our bridal party to Blacksmith Bar in Richmond for a cheeky pre-ceremony drink and pizza. It was so special to take a moment out of the busy schedule of the day to just be with our nearest and dearest.

Meaning of marriage.

It’s just an extension of what we already know and do.

For us, it was just an excuse to have a party with our family and friends,

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: You’ve Got The Love by Florence and the Machine

Reception: Murder on The Dance Floor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

First dance: Latch (Acoustic) by Sam Smith, then mixed into Disclosure version

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Father of the bride’s phone rang during the ceremony (there’s always one!)

Planning surprises.

How quickly it comes around!

Words of wisdom.

Schedule in some time for yourselves – you won’t regret it!
