Wedding planning was a breeze for Jay and Andrew, who knew they wanted to throw a simple, yet elegant affair that celebrated their love and the people they love.

From a heartfelt ceremony, the inclusion of their gorgeous children and a stellar first dance performance – there is nothing they wouldn’t change about their lovely Yarra Valley celebration, least of all – the decision to enlist Tribe superstars Kate Haley (celebrant) and Directors Edge (videographer).

You might recognise groom Andrew from his time gracing our TV screens, (along with some notable guests!) and we know you’ll enjoy the beauty of this day as captured from the lens of Love By Shae.

In Jay’s words…

The ‘one’.

We both from the moment we met knew that we had an unexplainable connection. It only took us a few days to know this was meant to be. We were lucky to find a once in a life time connection in each other.

The proposal.

He popped the question, out at his parents farm with a picnic and in a fairy light lit setting.

The process.

The planning was an easy process, we both made decisions pretty quickly. With an amazing bride tribe and Kate by my side through it all, it couldn’t have been easier. Also with Instagram and Pinterest at our fingertips, finding inspiration was simple. Everything came together just as we had hoped – a day for our guests to have fun and for us to remember forever.

Style inspiration.

Simple and elegant. I love flowers and wanted that to be a wow point to our wedding. Hello Blooms took my ideas and created something more incredible than I could have ever hoped for.

The gown.

I had just had my daughter when I went shopping for wedding dresses so it wasn’t a great experience. Nothing looked how I hoped it would. In the end I ended up getting something custom made so it would look exactly how I envisioned it in my head, with laces I had hand-picked myself.

Favourite moments.

Our children getting to be involved in the day. Being around our closest family and friends. And walking back down the aisle as husband and wife.

Meaning of marriage.

It’s a partnership. Someone who will always be there for you to lift you up or to be your shoulder to cry on.

Any funny stories (or near disasters).

Dancing rehearsal – Andrew didn’t want to do it, but ended up having the most fun being front and centre.

Words of wisdom.

Take everything as it comes, try not to sweat the small stuff. Once you have your main five components done, (celebrant, photographer, videographer, venue and florist), everything else is easy.

Your guests won’t know what is missing and they don’t expect anything. Just plan your day so you will enjoy every second and take a minute at your bridal table at the reception to look at your guests and how much fun they are having.

Also, definitely book a videographer, some moments can only be captured through film.
