Real Wedding – Laryssa & Adrian, North Melbourne VIC

For Laryssa and Adrian it was key to keep their day minimal and timeless and it’s easy to see how beautifully they achieved this.

The stylish sweethearts wed in a beautiful North Melbourne Cathedral before making their way to a cool warehouse space. While it was minimal in fuss, it was maximum in fun and the smiles on their faces says it all.

Laryssa took everyone’s breath away in her simple yet elegant wedding outfits. Pairing together a gorgeous Karen Willis Holmes skirt with tops that were beautifully crafted by her mother – so special.

This day is one they will always treasure and I Got You Babe captured all the incredible moments.

In Laryssa’s words…

The meeting.

We met at a New Years Party in 2013. A mutual friend introduced us. A few scotches later Adrian danced up to me during the countdown and we have been together since…the boy has moves.

The ‘one’.

When he came over after a big night out and passed out singing Aladdin’s “A Whole New World”

The proposal.

We went to Tasmania for a few nights away. We stayed in an amazing converted stable in a beautiful working farm. They had hike trails so we decided to go for the one that had a view and a bottle of sherry at the end of the trail, but of course we took a wrong turn, got lost, 2 hours later, hungry and thirsty we just decided to climb the nearest hill and just as we were about to head off Adrian got on one knee and proposed.

Planning process.

I am going to be honest, I find planning any event stressful, let alone a wedding. I found it extremely daunting. Adrian and I worked as a team and to our strengths. I planned all the styling and found the suppliers that I wanted and Adrian made it happen by booking everything and keeping everything on track with his killer spreadsheet.

Style inspiration.

Minimal and timeless

The dress.

I knew exactly what I wanted from the get-go. My mum and I found the skirt in one day and she made the tops. Simple and elegant. It was honestly the easiest part of the whole planning process.

Favourite moment.

That moment we got in the car at the end of the night to go to the hotel. There was this silence, we were beaming, and it was just pure happiness.

Meaning of marriage.

It’s us now. Not me or you, but us. I love that.

Wedding soundtrack.

We had my mum’s choir sing at the church which was so perfect.

I walked in to Adrian’s cousin, Adam Russo, playing Concerning Hobbits from Lord of the Rings on his Guitar (I’m a major LOTR fan much to Adrian’s dismay).

Our first dance was to Coldplay’s Magic.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Oh gosh, I laugh now but oh my. I had unintentionally lost some weight leading up to the day so not only was my skirt sitting lower on my waist than it should have been, but my strapless bra kept sliding down. It slipped down a little during the ceremony and I couldn’t readjust it whilst all eyes were on us, so I just went with it. My bra is at my waist in some pics. Girls – buy so much Hollywood tape, just in case.

Planning surprises.

I knew the guest list would be difficult, but my gosh it seems brutal when you have to cull friends. I’m so sorry if you’re reading this.

Words of wisdom.

Get a killer caterer, everybody remembers the food (we loved ours).
