Real Wedding – Liz & Sebastian, Paros GREECE

If you’re a fan of epic, understated glam in breathtakingly beautiful surrounds, Liz and Seb’s destination wedding is for you.

The Greek island of Paros provided a perfectly awe-inspiring aesthetic against which Liz and Seb set about creating their vision of old school elegance with a modern twist. From their beautiful bridesmaid in champagne silk sheaths to Liz’s glamazon-esque gown by Marquis bridal, this wedding was a dream of classic, captivating chic.

We loved the contrast of movie star glamour against the fresh ocean vista, with luxe styling details accented perfectly against the rough, creamy textures of the venue. While the views and decor were amazing, it was the energy and vibe that took this celebration to a whole new level.

Scrolling this divine day, captured by Days Made of Love, had our jaws on the floor and filled us with dreams of sun-drenched holidays to dazzling destinations. We recommend pouring yourself a glass of something special and settling in to enjoy!

The meeting.

We met in a Brisbane nightclub, at a mutual friend’s 30th birthday.

The ‘one’.

Seb: The first time I saw Liz, I immediately told my friends “I just met my wife”.

Liz: After I introduced Seb to my family.

The proposal.

We went on a seven-week trip to Europe. In June 2017, whilst holidaying in Santorini, Seb said he was purchasing tickets for the ferry to Mykonos. Little did I know he was scouting for a place to propose. He drove around for at least two hours while I ate breakfast and soaked up the sun looking over the caldera.

We jumped on the ATV, and he said he had something to show me. He took me to this beautiful, secluded cliff face, popped a bottle of Moet and dropped down on one knee. It was the most magical proposal I could have wished for.

Planning process.

We started planning a year and a half before our big day. We had countless skype sessions with most of our vendors to organize the specifics of the day.

Julia and Evita filled in the gaps and contacted our vendors to arrange anything we couldn’t from Australia.

Style inspiration.

1950’s black tie with a modern twist.

The outfit.

I wore a Marquise bridal gown called Lunar. It was a simple, white, low cut gown with small iridescent beading. I purchased it from Sphere Bridal on the Sunshine Coast. Sarah was so helpful, and she made sure I was 100% comfortable and happy with my purchase. I can’t thank Sarah and her team enough.

Favourite moments.

Seeing Sebastian’s face at our first reveal.

Meaning of marriage.

Spending your best and worst days with your best friend by your side. It is the confirmation of soul mates.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Come Away With Me by Norah Jones

Recessional: Sweet Lovin by Sigala

Reception entry: Valerie by Amy Winehouse

First dance: The Way You Look Tonight by Michael Buble

Funny stories or near disasters.

We left everything to the last minute. The funniest memory I have is printing and creating our menus 24 hours before we were about to leave. We slept for ten hours on the plane trip to Dubai. We were exhausted!

Planning surprises.

Our venue. It looked beautiful in photos but the energy once we got there was just incredible. It is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen.

Words of wisdom.

Go with your heart; it knows the way. When things get difficult, remember why you started. Lastly, enjoy every minute. Life is really short.

Last words.

Destination weddings are INCREDIBLE. If you get a chance, do it!

Considering a destination wedding but overwhelmed at the idea of all those logistics? A planner may be the answer to helping guide you through the boring bits, so you can focus on the dreamy details! Check out some of the best in the business, here.
