Real Wedding – Lydia & Cameron, Merricks North VIC
Cam and Lydia’s wedding is what dreams are made of.
Surrounded by the most magnificent florals on the gorgeous grounds of Tussie Mussie, their marquee celebration is enough to take your breath away and one of Lydia’s favourite moments was seeing it for the first time.
Dressed in a modern and magical One Day Bridal gown, Lydia was a vision and Cameron couldn’t have been prouder.
Overlooking the vineyards, Cam and Lydia said ‘I do’ and these pictures by Elk and Willow are worth more than a thousand words, so sit back and enjoy.
In Lydia’s words…
The meeting.
Cam and I met at Summadayze in Melbourne in 2010; we quickly realised how many mutual friends we shared, it wasn’t long before we became an item.
The ‘one’.
A year in to our relationship Cam moved to Queensland for work, we lived apart for six months and afterwards we both realised we never wanted to be apart again.
The proposal.
Seven years later, Cam had organised a lunch – which was totally out of character. He popped the question, by having our son walk into the restaurant and up to our table, he was wearing a t-shirt with the words “Will You Marry My DADDY” and then my entire family appeared. They all knew!
Planning process.
I was extremely lucky to have Tommy Collins and Carlie Monasso who took care of a lot of the planning for me, however I was still very hands on and enjoyed every moment of the planning process.
Style inspiration.
I always knew I wanted a marquee wedding, we fell in love with Tussie Mussie instantly, so we used that as our inspiration and everything chosen complemented the romantic rustic style. I met with Carlie Monasso, my stylist, we clicked instantly, and she got my vision straight away.
Tussie Mussie had a rustic table overlooking the vineyards which was the perfect location for our ceremony. Our florist was amazing and created the most magnificent hanging installation over the table using the chandeliers.
In the marquee I wanted the surroundings to take focus as the vineyard was breathtaking, so we had minimal flowers on the tables and more focus on the bar, table chart and an incredible Sketch & Etch “all you need is love” hanging photo wall.
The outfit.
I took my mum and bridesmaid’s shopping and fell in love with the first dress I tried on. I had envisioned for months that I wanted a full lace with long sleeve dress, the style of my One Day Bridal dress could not have been more opposite – the dress was modern style while providing an elegant classic bride style.
Favourite moment.
Walking in to the amazing marquee from Dann Event Hire – it was beyond my expectations
Meaning of marriage.
Our little family becoming one.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: Beyoncé – Ave Maria
Reception Entry: Naughty by Nature – Holiday
First Dance: Sam Smith – Latch (acoustic version followed by disclosure version to open up the dance floor)
Funny stories (or near disasters).
Lucas (my 3-year-old) interrupted the ceremony with no shoes and asked to have his shoes put back on. We have the photos to prove “anything can happen”.
Planning surprises.
How much there was still to do/organise in the week leading up to the wedding.
Words of wisdom.
You can’t be the go to person on the day of your wedding, make sure there are others who can take on these tasks for you.
Final words.
Enjoy every moment as the day goes so quickly! Best day of our lives.
