Real Wedding – Nicole & Vince, Dromana VIC

A glamorous, big barn bash, complete with food trucks and happy vibes – that’s how we’d best describe the stunning Dromana day of Nicole and Vince.

Starting with a heartfelt and engaging ceremony by Tribe talent Teagan Dole, Nicole wept her way down the aisle to her hubby-to-be and says that the party that followed was exactly what they wanted – a relaxed and joy-filled celebration of their love.

An incredible Pallas Couture gown, some very cool getaway cars and a stunning golden hour portrait session – there is so much to devour here, as seen through the lens of Jerome Cole.

In Nicole’s words…

The meeting.

We met at a friend’s 21st  back in 2012, I didn’t give Vince the time of day. I totally snubbed him. The funny thing is, I DID think he was cute and worthy of a date, but made him work for it.

Vince was forced to go full private investigator and stalk the depths of Facebook to find me. I’m sure he figured I couldn’t resist his blurry profile pictures of fishing trips and drunken selfies. Surprisingly, he was right. However, I did continue to make him work for it, as I made him wash my car on our first date.

The ‘one’.

There wasn’t really a defining moment, it just got to the point where we couldn’t see our lives without each other.

The proposal.

We had been given sky diving tickets by one of his best mates, who said he had won them in a raffle and would never do it himself. So, Vince said, ‘we’ll take them’. I was keen because we had both done it before and it’s so much fun! The day we went to go it was delayed due to fog in the morning and got pushed back to 1pm, then got pushed back again, then cancelled.

By this time we were already down at St.Kilda beach  having some lunch, when Vince went off on his phone to try and change our booking to the Tuesday. I was like ‘no, I’m not taking a day off work just to sky dive’. Vince’s parents had met us there to watch us sky dive, as it was cancelled we left it and went for a walk along the beach. As we were walking Vince walked ahead and then turned around and got down on one knee and started explaining… “so, we didn’t get given these tickets, everything was planned and I was supposed to jump first and you last. By the time you would of got down the bottom there was going to be a banner asking, will you marry me?” I obviously broke down in tears and couldn’t believe it. Of course I said YES!

Style inspiration.

All we wanted was a relaxed vibe but fun wedding. A big barn with food trucks and a band to dance the night away.

The dress.

I went to Sydney to get my amazing dress. It was from Pallas Couture. Beautiful beading in to a deep V-neck and V-back. Very fitted, with shear and thick lace all down the gown, finishing at the bottom with chiffon. At Pallas Couture, it was the second dress I tried on, and loved it!

My veil was what I call ‘wings’, one veil on each shoulder. I knew what I wanted from before I got engaged, just needed to go try them on.

Favourite moments.

It’s hard to pick a favourite moment as the whole day was so much fun! It was just perfect for us. But I must say, the only time I cried was when I was walking down the aisle looking at my now husband. Another amazing moment was leaving the reception in our big red Massey Ferguson 148 tractor with a DIY ‘Just Married’ sign and old tins hanging out the back.

Meaning of marriage.

It means getting to spend the rest of my life with the one person I get to laugh with and laugh at, and cut shapes on the dance floor even when we are old and grey.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Take my hand by Emily Hackett, Will Anderson

Reception entry: Hey Baby by Dj Otzi

First Dance: A mix of;

  • Chain reaction intro Live at the regent by John Farnham
  • Sold by John Michael Montgomery

  • Jail House Rock by Elvis Presley
  • Footloose by Kenny Loggins

Words of wisdom.

Do what you want to do and spend what you know you can afford because you don’t want to regret not having things you really want there. Be happy and relaxed.

Nicole and Vince opted to make the most of the day’s last rays, and their sunset session was a beauty. See why we love a bit of “Golden Hour” glamour, and our tips for planning it into your own day, by clicking here.
