Real Wedding – Paris & Luke, Wallington VIC

If you’re looking for a wedding with all the perfect party vibes, then Luke and Paris’ sublime day is the answer!

This darling duo brought the fun-factor to their wedding and kept it relaxed and romantic every step of the way.

They gathered an A-team when it came to choosing their Tribe with our very own sleek stylist’s Ruby & James putting their fabulous finishing touch everywhere you look and sublime food by our favorites at Annie’s Kitchen. This incredible affair was captured by Enchanted Weddings and will leave you wanting more!

In Paris’ words…

The meeting.

We met through mutual friends at a friend’s bar he was managing in the city (1000 pound bend). I was there with a girlfriend and to put it simply was rather boozed. Luke came in stone cold sober, and had to deal with me and my terrible skills at ‘picking up’, it obviously worked though – we have been inseparable ever since.

The ‘one’.

I knew Luke was the one not long after meeting him. My Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer pretty early into our relationship. The way Luke loved and supported my family and I through that 7 months of hell was like nothing else. He showed me what sort of man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

The proposal.

I’d taken Luke away for his birthday to Tasmania – we had both been so excited to go away as he had been working interstate for months, and we were doing the whole long-distance thing. On our first night in Hobart, MONA was throwing this epic street party – which we had to get amongst (naturally). We had the best night, but it caused us to be quite hungover for our road trip to this beautiful spot in the national park, where I’d booked the best-looking accommodation EVER. I was super keen to go to Richmond Bridge as I’d heard about it/seen a lot of picturesque photos of it. Before we got there. I made Luke take me to get dim sims to cure my hangover, we then proceeded to the bridge with food to feed the ducks. The spot was so damn pretty, and not many people around. We walked to the other side where no one was, and as I was taking a photo of the bridge, I heard Luke call my name, and turned around to him on one knee with a stunning diamond ring he designed! I just remember asking him what he was doing! And through some laughter and tears, but mainly laughter, I said ‘yes’. I didn’t expect it at all.Biggest surprise of my life. He didn’t tell a single soul, other than our best mate Cookie.

Planning process.

It was the best. So much fun, I want to do it again! I think I may have enjoyed it a little more than Luke – however, there were certain elements/vendors/ideas he was really excited about.

We were pretty cruisey and didn’t let too much worry us. We were lucky enough to have a serious A-TEAM on board for our day, so that definitely helped the process.

Special mention goes to the two amazingly talented women from Ruby and James – they were a miracle! I won a competition of theirs at the One Fine Day wedding fair, so had them on board from the very early stages of planning. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without them (if only I had a dollar for every time I said that). I actually can’t begin to explain how phenomenal they were, or how perfect our day was thanks to them – I could go on and on!

Style inspiration.

I think it was more of a vibe we were going for. Basically we wanted to throw an awesome party with lots of excellent food (Luke and I were determined to have amazing food for our guests), booze and good music involved, Then took it from there – when trying to explain to the girls from Ruby and James our style. they came up with ‘bohemian luxe’ which summed it up perfectly, it was important for us to also include some of Luke’s bad ass vibes, haha!

The dress.

The whole experience was a breeze! I had no idea what i was after, just knew the dress had to include lace and a big-ass train! Cue – the Danni dress by Made With Love. I didn’t initially consider this dress when I had seen it online, as I wasn’t sure if I’d pull off the very low back – but after a recommendation from one of the very helpful ladies at Bluebell Bridal, I tried it on. It was the first day I had looked at dresses, and the first dress my Mum shed a tear over, that’s when I knew it was the one! I was in disbelief that I had found my dress so easily, I absolutely loved it. The lace was insanely amazing. Seeing it in Sofia’s photos just made me fall in love with it all over again.

Favourite moment.

As all couples say – how do you just pick one from the best day ever. But my personal fave, other than seeing Luke’s face as I walked down the aisle – was my maid of honour’s speech from Sophie. To put it simply, she nailed it. I am still having our guests contact me about how incredible it was. She was hilarious, and had everyone in stitches, giving Luke a lot of shit (as expected). However, her speech went on to talk about when she knew Luke was the one for me, and this involved talking about when my Dad became terminally ill with cancer. I can assure you, there was not a dry eye in the house, and it meant to so much to me that she spoke about my beautiful Dad. A very, very special moment – I keep her speech on paper in my bedside table, which I still haven’t bought myself to re-read!

Meaning of marriage.

It was a pretty good excuse to throw a huge kick-ass party, with all our favourite people in the one place to celebrate us as a couple. But also, we get to do life together. How damn amazing is that? We feel very lucky.

Wedding soundtrack.

The bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Bella by Angus Stone.

I walked down the aisle to Sea Of Love by Cat Power.

Signed our certificate to Be About You by Winston Surfshirt.

We had our flower toss to Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley.

First Dance was to Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye

Funny stories (or near disasters).

Plenty of hilarious moments, but the one that stands out would have to be the Thursday night before the wedding. Most of our guests had arrived in the local town of Barwon Heads, so naturally we congregated at the local pub for what was meant to be ‘one or two champagnes’ (quoted by myself and my mum after having spray tans with all the bridesmaids). Next thing we knew – the whole wedding was back at our holiday rental polishing off ALL the bottles of Veuve we had bought down for the wedding, it was way past midnight and we all certainly had the pre-wedding buzz. A group of our guests finished the party around 5am on the verandah listening to Beyonce. There were a few sore heads dealing with setting up the wedding and the ceremony rehearsal the next day (Sorry – Jo).

Planning surprises.

Initially I thought we would be able to pull everything together ourselves (styling, setting up, packing down, DIY projects and all that jazz). However, once we got right into all the details, and we had Ruby and James on board, I couldn’t believe I thought we would be able to do it all ourselves – not a chance in hell!

Words of wisdom.

Just have fun! The planning process is so special and you (hopefully) only do it once. Don’t let it stress you, and ensure your day encapsulates you both.
