Real Wedding – Penny & Luke, Mount Macedon VIC

Fresh, summery vibes, dreamy modern elegance and blissed-up energy, are captivatingly present in every moment of Penny and Luke’s wedding day, captured to full effect by incredible photographer Georgia Verrells and superstar videographer Apertura Studios.

Set to a harmoniously gorgeous soundtrack by music legends We Are Paper Hearts, Penny and Luke exchanged I Do’s with simply beaming smiles. Our very own Marry Me Tee was there to deliver her trademark ceremony filled with light-hearted laughter and perfect personal touches.

We love the effortless party vibe present from start to end of this dream day, emphasised in the epic bridal party portrait shots. Bridesmaids in muted blush satin and stunningly simple bouquets of cream and soft pink roses make for an impactful aesthetic against the bushland backdrop.

As the reception kicks off, the styling effect is elevated further with the addition of accents of sweet magenta, cotton candy and lilac on a textural tablescape of taupe linens. The only thing that could top off these divine details? The absolute look of love and blissed-out energy between the newlyweds – this is Penny and Luke’s day, and they relished every sweet second.

The meeting.

At a footy function. It was the annual Port Melbourne Football Club Garden Party, a 1920’s themed party in St Vincent’s Gardens in Middle Park. The sun was out, and the drinks were good!

The ‘one’.

No specific moment that I could recall; everything just felt easy and right with him!

The proposal.

It was our five-year anniversary. Luke had left me a gift on my desk as I was working from home at the time. The gift was a ring – a silver ring with a heart on it – something a 13-year-old girl might wear. It turned out to be a decoy ring to completely throw me off the scent. It worked! We went for a picnic that night at St Vincent’s Gardens (where we met), and he popped the question! With a much better ring this time.

Planning process.

Pretty stress free to be honest. We had nearly a two-year engagement and slowly planned the wedding in that time. Once the big ticket items were all locked in, everything else fell into place. I really enjoyed sorting out all the finer details!

Style inspiration.

We both love being out in the country and wanted a winery-style wedding that wasn’t too rustic. Mount Macedon Winery ticked all the boxes. They were absolutely fantastic to deal with.

The ceremony.

We had an amazing celebrant, Marry Me Tee, who supported us through the entire process. She suggested we write some little spiels about each member of our bridal party, which we loved! It was a great way for the wider group to get to know how they fit into our lives.

The look.

I went to a few wedding dress shops, and the best thing to do was definitely to try on lots of different styles. It helped me quickly rule out styles I didn’t like.

Favourite moments.

Walking in with my dad was pretty special. Seeing everyone there for us was an amazing feeling.

Meaning of marriage.

Commitment and lifelong companionship.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Cinema by Gary Go (acoustic version)

Signing: Big Jet Plane by Angus & Julia Stone

Recessional: Home by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic zeros

First dance: Perfect by Ed Sheeran
