Nikola Janev has photographed hundreds of weddings over the past decade, and the word that appears in almost every testimonial is “friend.” Not because he’s casual or unstructured – his packages are detailed, his planning process is thorough, and he personally edits every image in every gallery – but because he invests enough time in the relationship before the wedding that by the time he picks up the camera, there’s genuine trust between him and the couple. That trust is what makes his documentary coverage feel so close and unguarded, his editorial portraits their warmth.
Nikola’s style sits in a space he describes as “timeless photography for modern lovers and nostalgic romantics”. Candid and documentary through ceremony and reception, with a confident editorial direction and a dash of drama during portraits. His venue portfolio reflects that range: Jackalope Hotel, Werribee Mansion, Panama Dining Room, Montsalvat, Rupert on Rupert, The George Ballroom and Villa Alba among them, alongside destination work including a Mykonos wedding featured in Vogue Australia.
Nikola offers three collections.
His Classic package covers eight hours with next-day sneak peeks (20 edited images within 24 hours) and a full online gallery delivered in four to six weeks, averaging around 100 images per hour of coverage.
His Modern package adds two hours and a 60-page fine art album.
His top-tier Traditional package extends to twelve hours and includes either a content creator or second photographer for six hours alongside the album.
Add-ons include analogue film (six rolls), a pre-wedding shoot, additional coverage hours, a second shooter, content creation and parent albums. No travel surcharges apply within two hours of Melbourne. Pricing is enquiry-based — contact Nikola directly for the full guide. He’s currently booking for 2027 and 2028.
“When you hire Nik, you’re not just hiring a wedding photographer, you’re hiring a hype man, support person and special moment coordinator.
Our first look experience, entirely designed by Nik, was one of the highlights of our wedding and we will treasure it for the rest of our lives.
He was a calm, kind and gentle presence, keeping it stress free and fun throughout the whole day, which was a relief for us as a typically camera-shy couple.
Nik was very quick in sending through our sneak preview pictures and we are in love with the special moments that were photographed. They all felt very ‘us’.
Thank you Nik for creating and capturing the best day of our lives.
Would highly recommend his services for your special day.”
