Tess Follett grew up wanting to work for National Geographic. She studied photography at university, worked as a photojournalist for major media publications, lived overseas, and then came home and pointed that same instinct at weddings. It’s a career path that shows in everything she shoots.
Her ceremony coverage has a press photographer’s timing, anticipating the moment, not chasing it. Her candid reception work has the observational discipline of documentary journalism. And her portraits, when she steps in to direct, carry an editorial composure that draws on high-fashion framing without losing the warmth of the day.
One couple described receiving their gallery in terms worth repeating: it was the best money they had ever spent, on anything.
Tess differentiates between weekday and weekend weddings. Intimate celebrations and elopements (Monday to Thursday) start from $3,000 for three hours. Full-day Friday and Saturday coverage runs from $5,200 for six hours through to $7,200 for ten, at approximately 100 edited images per hour. Every package includes a one-hour pre-wedding consultation, an online gallery with slideshow and print store, 20 lustre prints in a presentation box and a framed 5×7 portrait, all delivered by post. Tess does not work Sundays.
35mm film is available as an add-on ($300 for two rolls), along with second photographer coverage ($200 per hour), fine art albums from $1,800 and parent albums at $1,000. Tess is based in Melbourne and available for destination weddings — Tuscany among her recent international locations. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Hello May and Ivory Tribe.
Tess also photographs families, maternity, newborns and commercial work, including a six-hour “Day in the Life” documentary family session at $3,500.
“Tess was such a bright light, vibrant and contagious energy from the outset. Her work speaks for itself, but then you meet her and she truly exceeds all expectations. Being by our sides all day, giving us so much confidence and bringing so much happiness to every moment, was a part of the day we didn’t know we needed but were so thankful to her for that. The second we saw our sneak peeks (in not even 24 hours by the way!) we knew we were in for a treat. The emotion of the day came flooding back and we squealed with excitement. The images and moments captured were everything, there are truly no words to describe how much we cherish these images. Thank you Tess.”
