Most couples don’t expect to find a cathedral-ceilinged dining hall with exposed beams and a micro-brewery tucked behind a pub in Coburg. That element of surprise is part of what makes The Post Office Hotel land so well; it’s a venue guests don’t see coming, and the reaction when they walk in does half the work for you.
The Dining Hall sits separate from the main pub, so you get the atmosphere of a warehouse space with full privacy. A large dance floor, vintage pendant lights, and a private outdoor deck wrapped in greenery complete a venue that feel effortlessly relaxed and urban.
Ceremonies are held on the undercover, heated deck at the rear of the Dining Hall, surrounded by potted plants and greenery, it works year-round. After the formalities, that same deck becomes your cocktail and canapé space while the Dining Hall is set for the reception. There’s also an open-air area at the base of the deck for warmer evenings. The venue holds 133 seated or 250 cocktail, with access from 10am through to late.
This is where the flexibility really shows. Packages are built around how you want to spend — load up on a three-course meal with cheese station, oysters on arrival, and late-night snacks, or redirect that budget into a bespoke drinks package designed with the venue’s sommelier.
Cocktail-style weddings get a grazing menu option, seated celebrations choose from two share-style feasting menus, and there’s an antipasti and charcuterie table available post-ceremony.
And then there’s the micro brewery on-site. You can brew your own beer or seltzer for the wedding, which is a detail to remember.
No on-site accommodation, but Coburg is nine kilometres from the Melbourne CBD — hotels, apartments, and short stays in every direction, well-serviced by public transport.
Cost: Minimum spend from $10,000 (10am to late)
Capacity: 133 seated / 250 cocktail
Ceremony options: Undercover heated outdoor deck
The Post Office Hotel suits couples after a relaxed, inner-city celebration with personality; warehouse atmosphere, generous food, and the freedom to build a package around what matters to you rather than fitting into a set template.
We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding! The Dining Hall space is a hidden gem and the whole team at POH went above and beyond.
Our co-ordinator Wesley’s guidance on everything leading up to the day was spot on, and the room was set up so perfectly when we walked in, even accommodating our late placecard shuffle and setting up all of the confetti cones prior to our arrival.
All of our guests were absolutely raving about the food and they were so well fed – we’ve now eaten at the venue on many occasions and the food is consistently great.
Wesley managed our vendors before and during the event – they all said how much they love the venue and working with him. His energy on the day being both super fun but also calming was exactly what we needed!
