An all-white bridal party, ocean vows and a surf club reception.

Alice and Danny were married in a place that holds deep significance in their story: Cape Paterson, where they first became girlfriend and boyfriend, where they got engaged, and now, where they said: “I do.”

Captured by Love & Other, the day unfolded against a backdrop of rugged coastline and soft ocean light, with a relaxed, coastal energy woven through every moment.

Their ceremony overlooked the ocean, a sweeping view that set the tone as they exchanged vows, before guests made their way to the surf club to continue the celebrations.

A fresh palette of white and soft green carried through the styling, with bridesmaids dressed in modern, white dresses that complemented the natural surroundings. Alice wore a striking off-the-shoulder KYHA gown, paired with Danny’s timeless, tailored suit – a classic pairing that felt effortlessly considered.

As the sun set, Alice changed into a mini dress ready for the dance floor, with Melbourne Entertainment Co’s saxophone bringing a lively, celebratory energy that carried the night into full swing.

The meeting.

In very modern fashion, we met on Hinge. We’d actually floated around the same Geelong circles for years through mutual friends, so there was a definite “haven’t we sort of met before?” feeling. Danny downloaded the app over Christmas 2023 “for a laugh,” and two days later, we matched… and the rest is history.

The one.

For Danny, it was in a campervan in New Zealand, parked up near Wanaka after a day of adventuring. Watching the sunset with Alice asleep in his arms, it just clicked; this was it. For Alice, it was that same trip. Everything felt easy, natural, and like we were completely on the same team. At that point in life, you know what you’re looking for, and it all just worked.

The proposal.

Danny proposed at Seconds Beach in Cape Paterson, the same spot where he first asked Alice to be his girlfriend and told her he loved her. On Easter Saturday, with family nearby, he somehow convinced Alice to head down for sunset. While she chased Rupert along the beach, Danny set up a drone, called her to turn around, and was down on one knee.

Planning process.

We actually loved it. Once we locked in the venue, everything started to fall into place. We tried to keep things relaxed, make decisions together, and focus on what felt like “us” rather than getting caught up in too many trends. There were definitely moments of stress (and a few late-night chats and changes), but overall it was a really fun experience.

Style inspiration.

We wanted something that felt natural, relaxed and reflective of the coastal setting. Lots of soft tones, simple details, and a focus on creating a warm, fun atmosphere rather than anything overly formal. The goal was for it to feel like a big celebration with all our favourite people.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was incredibly personal. It told our story, included the people who shaped us, and reflected what matters most to us – family, friendship, and shared experiences. Having it at Cape Paterson, a place that means so much to Alice, and now to both of us, made it even more special.

The outfits.

Alice wanted something timeless but still relaxed enough to suit the coastal vibe. It took a bit of searching, but when she found the one after a few purchases…it just felt right.
Danny kept it classic and tailored.

Favourite moment.

It’s hard to pick just one, but the ceremony stands out – looking around and seeing all our favourite people in one place was pretty surreal. Also, the first few minutes after being announced as married, when everything felt relaxed and we could just soak it all in together. It’s a post-ceremony high.

Meaning of marriage.

For us, it’s about partnership. Backing each other, growing together, and choosing each other every day, through the fun, the chaos, and everything in between. It’s building a life that feels like a team.

Funny stories (or near disasters).

There are always a few! Nothing major went wrong (we were very lucky), but there were a few last-minute changes, a few timing hiccups, and plenty of laughs along the way. Honestly, those little moments just became part of the story.

Planning surprises.

How many small decisions there are! You think you’ve covered everything, and then there’s always another detail. But also, how much fun it can be when you don’t overthink it. I was good at overthinking.

Words of wisdom.

Set a budget and stick to it. Costs get out of hand quickly.

Invest in a good videographer.

Good entertainment is very important.

Focus on what actually matters to you and don’t get too caught up in what you think it “should” look like. The day goes so quickly; make sure it feels like you.

Final words.

Just how grateful we are. To our families, our friends, and everyone who helped bring the day to life. Having all of our favourite people in one place celebrating with us is something we’ll never forget.
