Fashion Focus: statement sleeves and chic bridal gloves

Madeleine wore a gown and sleeves by Raffaele Ciuca, photographed by Kinship by Kristy.

Whether it’s influenced by Bridgerton or simply ties into the rising trend of old-money elegance, the current sartorial statement we are seeing weaving its way through fashion-forward weddings is a contemporary take on long sleeved gowns. Be it the addition of gloves, delicate arm wraps, or a classic full-length sleeve, brides are choosing this impactful detail to add texture and interest to their silhouette.

We’re seeing top designers create their versions, from sleek boleros at Kyha and the removable ruched tulle sleeves we can’t get enough of, to ethereally elegant pearled wrap and gloves from Karen Willis Holmes, while Courte Collection have their short capsule gown in chic long sleeve lengths, and featured sleek black opera gloves in their latest New York Bridal Week runway.

This is a trend we’ll all be seeing more of coming into our 24/25 wedding season. So, for attainable inspiration, we’ve done a round-up of some of our favourite long-sleeve, glove, and statement-sleeve looks on real Australian brides.
