Real Wedding – Hannah & Dan, Wahgunyah VIC

Classic elegance against a breathtaking backdrop was the overarching aesthetic of Hannah and Dan’s beautiful soiree. But underpinning all the sumptuous style was effervescent, unbridled emotion – and we absolutely can’t get enough!

From the moment Hannah appeared in her show-stopping Macpherson gown by Tribe favourite Kyha, no one could wipe the smiles from their faces. And they had the absolute perfect celebrant at the helm to harness this fun-filled, epic energy and create a ceremony to remember. Precious Celebrations led the laughter with personal touches and captivating warmth in a truly stunning setting.

Infused with golden light and under a sweeping canopy of trees, Hannah and Dan said their I’Do’s surrounded by russet toned autumn leaves. A wedding party in chic black and white provided a contrast to the dramatic natural tones, while All Saints Winery allowed for a myriad of gorgeous backdrops.

For us, what stood out in every incredible image by Jackson Grant was that we could barely find a photo that didn’t include someone laughing, or at the very least, sporting an infectious grin. We love a joy-filled wedding day, and Hannah and Dan’s ticks the box! Read on for a dream day dopamine hit.

The meeting.

Dan and I meet through a mutual friend on a night out in my hometown.

The ‘one’.

We knew pretty quickly!

The proposal.

We were on the Murray River (one of our favourite places) and had been out on the boat for the afternoon. We decided to pull up on the beach and set up a platter, have a drink and watch the sunset. Our friends were with us, and once everything was set up, Dan got down on one knee and proposed. We were lucky enough for it to be filmed and have some photos taken. Safe to say, I (Hannah) was super surprised and absolutely thrilled.

Planning process.

Our planning process was rather large. Having originally booked our wedding for December 2020 in a different suburb, we went through two sets of plans. In saying this, I absolutely loved planning the wedding. All of our vendors were brilliant in assisting us in making changes. I had large amounts of help from my Mum, sharing ideas and pictures. It was fabulous and something I will treasure forever.

Style inspiration.

The inspiration came from wanting to have a completely classic, simply styled wedding. We loved the idea of timeless features.

We took inspiration from many real weddings, magazines, Pinterest pages, Instagram and asking friends about how they went about certain things, as well as our own ideas.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony was special to us because we had exactly what we wanted. We looked to include the special people in our lives and keep the words true to us. Precious, our celebrant, really kept it personal to us and what we valued.

All Saints Estate also looked stunning. Being autumn, the leaves were bright, and the sun was shining through. We were so lucky to have such perfect weather.

The look.

Keeping with the style of our wedding, we both wore very classic outfits. Dan and his groomsmen wore black and white suits. My bridesmaids wore black fitted dresses.

I loved my dress; it was stunning. Not originally what I had in mind but, after taking some time to shop with my Mum, Mother-in-Law and bridesmaids, I got to try so many gowns on. I knew when I put the dress on it was the one!

Favourite moments.

Seeing Dan at the end of the aisle. It was honestly such an incredible moment, and I felt like everything we had done up to that moment had led us to that point. Sharing the evening with our guests was such an honour. Each moment was filled with so much love and enjoyment.

Meaning of marriage.

Marriage means to us that we get to spend the rest of our lives together (officially). It means that we get to celebrate the love that we have every day for each other with our most loved family and friends. It’s the next chapter for us, and being able to do that as husband and wife is pretty incredible.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: So into you by Tamia

Recessional: I want to hold your hand by The Beatles

Reception entry: Window to the Sky by Kim Churchill

First dance: The Wedding Song by Angus and Julia Stone

Words of wisdom.

Enjoy every part of the process and take it all in, even in times when it feels stressful and overwhelming. Keep your wedding true to who you are as a couple rather than what is on-trend. It is such an incredibly special day; it is worth every moment.

Battling the budget blues? It’s the one part of wedding planning that can really bring you from dreamy visions to harsh reality. But don’t despair, we are here to help! Here’s twenty tips on how to make your wedding fund work for you.

HANNAH & DAN’S VENDORS

Many of our suppliers were recommended to us by family and friends. I also spent time googling and looking through Instagram. We used blogs such as Ivory Tribe and Hello May.

Ceremony & reception venue: All Saints Estate Winery, Wahgunyah Victoria. Milly Bakker-Meyers, Event Coordinator – Milly made the entire process so easy, stress-free and relaxing. She was such a pleasure to work with and made our day truly special. Milly was there throughout the entire event and the next day. We appreciated her so much.

Celebrant/Officiant: Precious Celebrations. Precious was nothing short of an angel and a breath of the fresh air. She formed a quick bond with our family and friends, taking the laughs way into the evening. She took any work out of our hands and kept the entire event running smoothly. It was really special getting to know her and having her as such a big part of our special day.

Photography: Jackson Grant Photography. Where do I begin with Jackson? Dan and I couldn’t be happier that Jackson was a part of our day. We knew from our first catch up that he was the one! He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and his photography is out of this world. He picked up exactly what we were going for without us even needing to explain it. He read the room brilliantly, ensuring everyone was comfortable and included. All of our guests have mentioned how fabulous he was. We are over the moon with our photos and will truly treasure them.

Florist: Christine Clarke – Family friend. Christine saved the day! Being Mother’s Day weekend, florists are naturally very busy. She understood our vision and put together beautiful bouquets and centrepieces that reflected our style perfectly.

Hair: Lou – LOUKA Hair, Wangaratta. Lou styled me, the bridesmaid and my mum and mother-in-Law. She was fabulous. She worked with me the day before in cutting and prepping my hair. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Make-up: Make up By Dani – Dani Cousins. Dani was an incredible vibe on our day. She travelled quite a long distance to do our make-up and was so wonderful. She understood what I was looking for and how I wanted to feel. Her gentle nature and kindness were definitely noticed by all.

The dress: KYAH Studios, Macpherson gown. Stylist Erica literally saved the day! She is beyond a dream to work with.

Rings: Hannah – Aton Jewellery. Dan – Siren Fine Jewellery, Sorrento

Bridesmaid’s dresses: Bec + Bridge

Cake: Becs Little Cake Place – Bec. Bec was amazing! Her cakes were seriously delicious. Bec created our wedding cake, as well as three kitchen cakes to be served as dessert. She was more than understanding of allergies and dietary requirements. We even got to have a taste test for the flavours!

Stationery / Signage: The Parker Effect – Alisha. Alisha was just so easy to work with. She was so great about all of my emails and totally hit the brief. We were wrapped in our invitations and signage.

Entertainment: Main Entertainment – Isaac. Isaac made the event. He played for our ceremony and reception. His skill and music were mind-blowing. We will never forget the ceremony songs he played for us. Communication with Issac was so easy and relaxed, making the process really lovely.

Transport: Family friend for the wedding party. Rutherglen bus company to take guests home.

Décor: IKEA

Hire: Snichols Custom Event Hire – lawn games
