Real Wedding – Hannah & Tyler, Red Hill VIC

Hannah and Tyler’s wedding was a dreamy, sun-dappled celebration enhanced with effortless style and soft, understated romance. Choosing to focus on creating a fun, relaxed vibe truly paid off for these two sweet souls, as their day was every bit the picture-perfect, fun-filled fabulousness they imagined.

Our very own Natalie Drum was there to set the tone for the loved-up party to unfold, creating a ceremony filled with thoughtful touches and magical moments. Choosing classic black and white as their style theme worked perfectly against the lush garden surrounds and chic contemporary interiors of Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill.

We particularly love the light-filled portrait sessions, with photographer Motta Weddings capturing the ease and ecstatic emotions between the gorgeous newlyweds in stunning aesthetic style.

Then, as the sun went down, the electric vibes only heated up in the masterful hands of dance floor aficionados, Baker Boys Band.

Scroll on for every darling detail of this dreamy day!

The meeting.

We grew up living across the road from each other (just 90 metres), and both developed a bit crush when we were a bit older (Han, 17 and Tyler, 19). We went for a walk one day, and well, the rest is history!

The ‘one’.

From the beginning, we both knew we’d found something quite special, and with time, maturity and challenges we’ve faced, we knew we had found our perfect match.

The proposal.

We went away to Phillip Island for a weekend right before Christmas. Han had suspected it might happen, although there had been other times before and had gotten it wrong! Tyler said we would go for a hike along the George Bass Coastal Walk near San Remo.

On Sunday morning, we set out for our hike and passed a woman with her dog who said they spotted a snake further up. Han freaked out and thought we should turn back. At this point, Tyler said we should get a photo first and set his phone down to put it on a timer. Tyler walked towards Han and knelt down on his knee, and proposed. Han immediately lost all words and called him ‘pawns’, which you can hear in the video (a nickname Han’s brother Matt started calling everyone, and now we now all call each other)!

We decided to keep it a secret for the rest of the day and tell our family the following day on Christmas Eve. We went out for brunch and grabbed Aperol spritzes in San Remo and soaked up being engaged to each other.

Planning process.

Covid-19 put a spanner in the works. Han had her Bride Business from the beginning, and we both used spreadsheets and, towards the end, a lot of checklists.

Early on, we found a real wedding at Lindenderry on Ivory Tribe, photographed by Alex Motta, and we didn’t look back!!

Style inspiration.

Relaxed and an opportunity to have one big party. The theme was black and white.

The ceremony.

Our beautiful celebrant Nat made our ceremony so magical; we honestly cannot believe how lucky we were to have her at our side. Hearing our vows for the first time was so surreal, and we felt like it was just us there in that magical moment. Then seeing all of our beautiful friends and family all together was so surreal. None of this would have been possible without Nat, who is so thoughtful and gorgeous inside and out and set the tone for the best day ever!

The look.

Han – The first day I went shopping with my mum and sister to look at dresses, I thought we had found the one but had one more appointment booked at Suzanne Harward. I walked out in the first dress I tried on there, and after mum welled up – I immediately knew it was the one!

Tyler – I knew I wanted to wear a tux, so I looked at renting/hiring but then soon realized it wasn’t going to cost much more to buy my own suit, and the quality was much better. I tried many different suits but landed on Peter Jackson for myself and the groomsmen.

Favourite moments.

Han – Walking down the aisle with dad and my brother and seeing Tyler at the other end was one of the best moments of my life! Will cherish it forever.

Tyler – There are so many! I think the time between the ceremony and the reception and taking photos was so special; we got to slow down and take it all in!

Meaning of marriage.

Love, commitment and the start of a new chapter, and living our best lives together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Til Kingdom Come by Coldplay and The Blowers Daughter by Damien Rice

Reception entry: You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall & Oates

First dance: La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong

Funny stories or near disasters.

Apart from COVID-19 and having to postpone twice, Han’s brother Matt was quite funny before the wedding. Matt is Hannah’s older brother with down syndrome. He is the life of the party and very, very, very cheeky. Before the wedding, he kept joking that he was ‘busy’ on the day of our wedding. Tyler knew how much Matt loved $5 notes (only $5 notes!) and started to slip him a few fivers here and there, so miraculously, Matt decided he was free to attend!

Planning surprises.

How much effort goes into a wedding!!

Words of wisdom.

Take a few deep breaths and trust us, the wedding will be the best day of your life, and it will all be worth it! Working as a team and taking the time to listen to each other’s ideas for the big day makes a world of difference. Delegate, delegate and delegate!!

HANNAH & TYLER’S VENDORS

Ceremony and Reception venue: Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill. A massive thanks to the beautiful team at Lindenderry, Serena, Jane and Jules. Our day just would not have happened without the massive amount of work and support from these legends. From our postponements to the months leading up to the wedding and on the big day, we felt like we had all the support we needed and more. No matter how many calls and emails we had for Serena and Jane, they were always there for us. We had the best day ever, and it seriously would not have been possible without them!

Celebrant: Nat Drum. The most beautiful celebrant inside and out! We love you, Nat! Can we do it all over again?!

Photography: Alex Motta, Motta Weddings. We are seriously Alex’s number #1 fans. We immediately knew when we saw Alex’s photos from another real wedding that he was our guy! Alex has such awesome energy and excitement that he brings to his work, and on top of being such a lovely human, he is the most incredible photographer! On the day, Alex made us feel so completely at ease, and we had a mini party in between the ceremony and reception, with Alex pumping some tunes on his speaker. Alex honestly feels like part of the fam now! At 8am the morning after our wedding, he sent us our preview, and our minds were blown; the photos were beyond words, just so magical! We’ve since received our album, and honestly, Alex just keeps delivering the goods; we can’t recommend this legend enough!

Florist: Jac Sklobar, Winter Rose by Jac. Jac is seriously the most thoughtful and passionate florist who also became a dear friend to us through the wedding planning journey! Seeing the flowers on the day was just incredible. Han may or may not have cried when Jac brought the bouquets over and didn’t want to put down her bouquet for the rest of the day!!

Hair: Makeup by Sophie Knox. Sophie is an absolute angel, and I could not believe the magic she worked on my hair! Sophie honestly made our morning so special and made us all look and feel so beautiful!

Make-up: Bernice Mansfield – Bernice is such a beautiful human and stepped in at the last minute to save the day; we couldn’t have done it without her – we all felt so beautiful in our glam looks!
