Jess + Jack Get Married

Jess and Jack’s dream day is a stylish vision of fresh modern elegance and a truly epic celebration. Hosting their wedding day at their newly renovated home makes for a day as filled with sweet sentiment as it is visual bliss.

Teenage sweethearts, this celebration is one a decade in the making. So when it came to choosing their planning ethos, Jack and Jess leant naturally into a festival vibe – a stunning marquee, soft festoon lighting, crisp monochromatic styling and underpinning it all – relaxed, fun-filled energy.

Wearing a gown by fashion favourite Kyha, Jess brings a gorgeous radiance to her contemporary glam look. Equally chic is Jack in his MJ Bale suit, looking sharp as he watches his beautiful bride step down the aisle. With a ceremony crafted by one of the best, Hitched by Heidi, the party feels kick off before the I dos are even exchanged.

There to capture every vivid moment as it unfolds is the impeccably fabulous Kinship by Kristy. From the dreamy ceremony to dance floor drama under the stars in the hands of Baker Boys Band, this is one visual storyboard to lose yourself in.

The meeting.

We met on Facebook, but our first face-to-face meeting was at a house party in 2012 when we were 17.

The ‘one’.

From the moment we met, truly.

The proposal.

It was almost ten years into being boyfriend and girlfriend during a holiday in Noosa, and it was totally unexpected to Jess. Jess gave up waiting five years prior and never thought the day would come. The proposal was private and in Jess’s favourite place in the world – the beach.

Planning process.

It was a lot! We bought a run-down rural property and spent 18 months renovating/prepping that, plus all the wedding planning. Getting a planner was the best decision we made and totally helped with the pressures that come with a home wedding.

Style inspiration.

Festival vibes, tents, lights, food/drinks trucks, dancing all night, relaxed and fun.

The ceremony.

We got married at home, so it was an incredibly special moment and one that we can revisit and sit in whenever we want to.

The outfit.

I was expecting the ‘say yes to the dress’ moment, and it just wasn’t like that for me; I felt a lot of pressure. If only you could see my photos whilst wearing my dress in Kyha – I look stressed, not like a girl who just found her perfect dress.

Jack and the boys were easy. MJ Bale suits are beautiful and were an easy no-brainer for us.

Favourite moments.

Dancing and having the most fun ALL night as husband and wife. Most of our guests and vendors said they’d never seen a bride and groom have so much fun at their own wedding before.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole and I Guess I’m In Love by Clinton Kane.

First dance: Anyone by Justin Bieber.

Funny stories or near disasters.

We feel like the luckiest bride and groom because we truly had no disasters and narrowly avoided a very wet November and December. There were countless funny things that happened, but Jess spilling a whole espresso martini on her gown before finishing photos and falling over on the dancefloor while breaking it down were key highlights.

Planning surprises.

The amount of planning and the cost of a home wedding. We were part of the population that assumed a home wedding would be ‘cheaper’; I say it was on par, if not more.

Words of wisdom.

Two things if I can, firstly, try your best to stay with your husband/wife as much as you can.

And the other: I can’t claim this because it was passed onto me, but on the day, take a private moment with your husband/wife to look and acknowledge all your favourite people in the world in one place. There will never be another moment in your life like it. It’s truly special.
