Real Wedding – Jessica & Estelle, Brunswick East VIC

For a sleekly modern, wonderfully warm and ultra-chic celebration, look no further than Jess and Estelle’s exquisite wedding. From vibrant pops of colour to a thumping dance floor, this day was filled with effortlessly artful touches that made for unique, memorable magic.

We are always a fan of taking traditions and making them your own, so love that Jess and Estelle both walked down the aisle with their parents to the classic chords of Moon River. Both looked devastatingly divine in their stunning outfits by tribe favourite, Chosen by Kyha.

Crafting a ceremony filled with equal parts emotion and light-hearted laughter was celebrant superstar Pete. A floral backdrop of architecturally structured blossoms in shades of candy red, raspberry wine and shots of vanilla created an incredible impact against the industrial stylings of The Wool Mill.

A private first dance moment played by acoustic duo Tobi Tobi was among Jessica and Estelle’s favourite snippets of their dream day, leading them perfectly into their reception celebration.

This day has everything we appreciate aesthetically, animated with epic doses of love and laughter, all captured by Duuet Weddings.

The meeting.

We met at a bar in the city four years ago.

The ‘one’.

Three months in, we knew it was something special.

The proposal.

Estelle took Jess to ‘The Pole House’ on the Great Ocean Road, lit a fire, popped a bottle of champagne and asked the question.

Planning process.

We basically planned two weddings (thanks to Covid). We were both very involved in the planning, and everything went to plan on the day.

We used Instagram accounts such as Ivory Tribe, which post real wedding photos. WedShed articles were great as well, especially when it came to having to rearrange due to Covid.

Style inspiration.

Modern warehouse, pop of bright colour, fun. We both love good food and music, so they were our most important choices.

The ceremony.

We had both parents walk us down the aisle (Jess and her parents first, followed by Estelle and her parents) and our three sisters as bridesmaids standing to one side. We spent the day getting ready together with both families and together right before walking down the aisle.

The outfit.

We went shopping together. Estelle knew what she wanted and ended up getting the first dress she tried. Jess went to every bridal store in Melbourne before finding the one. We ended up buying our outfits from the same place.

Favourite moments.

When our guests were seated downstairs for the reception, we had a private first dance moment with one of our favourite songs played by the acoustic duo Tobi Tobi.

Meaning of marriage.

Being able to call each other wife and ‘officially’ commit to each other and embrace our relationship together with our family and friends. It also means that we can kickstart building our family and lives together.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle (bridesmaids): La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf.

Aisle (brides): Moon River by Henry Mancini

Reception Entry: This will be (an everlasting love) by Natalie Cole.

Private first dance: Sea of Love by Cat Power.

Funny stories or near disasters.

Our wedding was cancelled in April 2020 due to Covid. We had about two weeks notice to reschedule while the whole world was going into lockdown.

Planning surprises.

How many options and decisions we had to make to bring it all together.

Words of wisdom.

Get a wedding planner to help manage the chaos. We also considered a smaller wedding due to Covid but were so happy we didn’t decrease numbers in the end. There are so many amazing memories that we might not have had if we did.

Last words.

We are both very close with our families. Since getting engaged, our families have become very close. We have included our families (parents, sisters and partners) at every step along the way. This included having a joint disco-themed Hens Party with family and friends and getting ready together on the wedding day with both families.
