Real Wedding – Jude & Matthew, Nagambie VIC

For a captivatingly curated micro-wedding, maxed out with exquisite style and touching emotion, look no further than Jude and Matt’s divine day.

Scrolling the dreamy images by our friends La Moment Photography is a constant wow moment – from the ethereal intimacy of the ceremony to the expansively beautiful twilight portraits. The styling was simple but impactful to enhance the stunning surrounds of Mitchelton Winery. Clouds of soft baby’s breath form whimsical arrangements, interspersed with crisp white roses. Gentle lighting infuses the underground cellar to create a golden glow, at the centre of which shines the stunning newlyweds.

The Lennox dress by the talented Chosen by Kyha is contemporary perfection on Jude, elevated to fashion fabulousness with a matched headpiece. Matt cuts a Bond-esque figure in a super sharp tux by one of our faves, YSG Tailors.

Jude and Matt describe the day as utterly perfect. After shelving their initial plans for an Italian wedding due to Covid, they were absolutely delighted to celebrate their love with their families in a truly bliss-filled, stress-free occasion. To see more of this magical micro-wedding, scroll on.

The meeting.

We met in March 2015 through a mutual friend who set us up on a blind date. We clicked on our first date and have been together since.

The ‘one’.

Three months into dating, I went to Europe and each week, Matt would go to my parent’s house to have dinner with them. I thought this was really special, given we hadn’t been dating long!

The proposal.

Matt had organized a long weekend at the Lakehouse in Daylesford as a surprise for my birthday. Throughout the weekend, he surprised me with flower deliveries, gifts, massages and so on. On the final night, we had dinner at the Lake House and then walked back to our room. As I opened the door, I saw it was filled with roses and candles, and at that moment, I realized what was happening. Matt led me inside before dropping to one knee and asking me to marry him.

Planning process.

We had booked a trip to Italy in 2020 to scout venues on the Amalfi Coast for our 2021 wedding. However, COVID happened. For the next two years, we didn’t have any intentions of getting married and thought we might stay engaged indefinitely.

One night, I was speaking with a close friend, and she recommended we see Mitchelton Winery, specifically their underground wine cellar. Although Matt and I still had no intentions of getting married, we decided to make a day of it and drove out to Mitchelton in late December 2021. After seeing it, we agreed to just go for it – we booked a date in May and started locking in suppliers.

Style inspiration.

We wanted something romantic and timeless yet still modern.

Ivory Tribe was a great reference point for supplier recommendations. As I don’t have Instagram, I also created myself a secret wedding profile to do some research/stalking.

The ceremony.

Our ceremony felt like it was just the two of us – I don’t think we took our eyes off each other; it was really special.

The look.

I had seen photos of the Lennox dress from Chosen By Kyha and loved the simplicity of it. It was the first dress I tried on, and within a minute, I decided it was the one for me. I hadn’t intended to wear a headpiece, but after trying one on in-store, I thought it really completed the dress.

Matt opted for a classic white tux.

Favourite moments.

It’s hard to pick one – I loved walking down the aisle, dancing with our families at the reception and also our individualized speeches for each of our family members.

Meaning of marriage.

For us, it was the opportunity to celebrate our love with our family.

Wedding soundtrack.

Funny stories or near disasters.

Everything went perfectly!

Planning surprises.

That even with only ten guests, there’s a lot to plan.

Words of wisdom.

Plan your day around what makes you and your partner happy.
