Real Wedding – Regina & Simon, Ripponlea VIC
Elegant romance infused with fresh spring-inspired style underpins Regina and Simon’s stunning inner-city celebrations. For them, when planning their wedding, it was important to create a seamlessly fun, timeless day that encapsulated their values as a couple.
And by all accounts, they nailed the brief! Against the classic chic backdrop of gorgeous venue Quat Quatta, a soft, clean colourscape juxtaposes perfectly with accents of creamy peach, vibrant candy pink and bold scarlett. Cloud-like florals by Wildflos elevate the ceremony space, while crisp white decor enhance rather than detract from the lush greenery surrounds.
Simon and Regina wanted timeless fits they’d look back on in years to come and still love. His black tux is on point, while Regina glows in her gown by Capellazzo Couture. By changing up her full-length skirt for a sweet tulle layered mini, she takes the look from glam to dance floor ready while still keeping within her vision, fun elegance personified.
Check out every darling detail of this dreamy day, captured with a truly artful touch by photographer Kristen Cook.
The meeting.
They met the old-fashioned way through mutual friends. It was 2016 at their friend’s engagement party, where they met and exchanged numbers. It then took Simon an entire year to ask Regina on a date.
The ‘one’.
Besides sharing a mutual love of dumplings, Cavoodles, and a similar sense of humour, there are often times we won’t need to communicate and can already know what the other one is thinking or feeling.
The proposal.
It was a simple but memorable occasion. We went out for a delicious dinner at Park Street Pasta in South Melbourne. Before we went to bed, I turned around, and Simon was on one knee and popped the question.
Planning process.
I started with a Pinterest board and began saving photos from Instagram. The options are truly endless of what suits and what comes together best. But, connecting with local suppliers in the area helped us inform our decision on the styling and inspiration for our big day.
Style inspiration.
Our wedding was in Spring, and I wanted to have a romantic-themed wedding with pops of colour. We also wanted something classic and fun. Both having grown up in Melbourne, we appreciate the love of refurbishing or maintaining older buildings. So, Quat Quatta fit the brief.
The ceremony.
The ceremony was held at Quat Quatta as well. We wanted the transition for our guests from the ceremony to the reception to be as simple as possible. Although it was a rainy spring in 2022, we lucked out with the weather, and it was a perfect spring day.
The look.
We wanted classic outfits where we could look back in 30 years and still love the simplicity and elegance of the outfits we chose. Simon went for a black tux, and the shirt had black buttons. Regina opted for a silk gown, then decided she wanted two looks and asked the dressmaker for an additional skirt later on in the night.
Favourite moments.
Finally, getting to sit down at dinner with our friends and family to enjoy the night after months of planning.
Meaning of marriage.
Being committed to the same person and growing together as you get older.
Wedding soundtrack.
Never Too Much by Luther Vandross
Funny stories or near disasters.
Everything went smoothly except for the page boy getting stage fright during the ceremony.
Words of wisdom.
Have a project plan and stick to a budget. It’s easy to get carried away and think, ‘You only get married once’. Remember what you value as a couple.
