Real Wedding – Rosie & Henry, Chatsbury NSW

Rosie and Henry sealed the deal in a breathtakingly beautiful, timeless soiree. Old-world style, garden party romance and a modern sense of fresh frivolity make for an event to remember.

Stunningly sprawling Rhyanna Park sets the scene for the I Do’s, creating a backdrop of lush, manicured gardens, immaculate stone detailing and pops of lavender. To this gorgeous setting, stylist Hi Hilda and florist Potter Studios merely enhance the magic, adding layers of white on white and delicate details to elegant effect. The juxtaposition of classic decor with fresh, modern florals and statement pots gives a fresh spring feel and perfectly interweaves the ceremony and reception settings.

But of course, this dream day is more than just the look – it is equally epic in feels. As the sun casts a gorgeous golden glow across the newlyweds and their guests, the dance floor heats up in the hands of music makers The White Tree.

And word has it, this party was so good the singer even stayed the night!

Scroll on for every effervescent detail captured through the deft lens of Zelda Green.

The meeting.

We first met back in 2016 when I moved to Sydney from Brisbane. Henry was living in a house with a childhood friend of mine.

The ‘one’.

A couple of months after we met – we became great friends so quickly, and all I wanted to do was be around him all the time!

The proposal.

We had a week away to Hyams Beach with some very special friends. Henry popped the question on the last day of our holiday when we were going for our afternoon stroll along the beach as storm clouds were rolling in; it was perfect. It just so happened I was celebrating my 30th with all my family and closest friends in Sydney that weekend; there ended up being a lot to celebrate!

Planning process.

We were so fortunate to have so many creatives as close friends who helped shape our wedding day, and having my cousin as a wedding planner was monumental in making our day come together. But I will not lie; there are many highs and lows in planning a wedding. Your email, mind and Instagram become saturated with all things weddings. We loved so many things about planning a wedding.

Final decision-making was definitely tricky because you want things to be perfect and can doubt yourself, but perfection doesn’t exist, and I believe no wedding is perfect; you just have to make it your own!

Style inspiration.

An English garden party meets an old grand estate wedding. Where romance, beautiful blooms and elegance unite in the open air.

I drew inspiration mainly from images on Pinterest – this was how we could create the aesthetic for our wedding day. Instagram was also great for finding inspo!

The ceremony.

Walking down the aisle was definitely the most daunting part of the day; our ceremony had a relaxed feel to it, and we wanted to keep it short and sweet. Our ceremony was held in the garden of Rhyanna Park. The Shore School Chaplain married us as Henry attended the school along with both our fathers, which was a touch of tradition that was special to us.

The outfit.

Our wedding dress code was black tie. Henry wore a custom tailor-made P Johnson traditional dinner suit. I had a style of dress I wanted to wear. After going to multiple bridal shops, I ended up finding my dress online and bought it from the US – it was off the rack and perfect. I wanted to add something a little bit more fun, so I had a custom Harriette Gordon Bow made as an attachment to the dress. I paired it with my sister’s wedding veil (something borrowed) and a pair of white Manolo Blahnik slingbacks.

Favourite moments.

The entire day!

Meaning of marriage.

Commitment, support, patience and a whole lot of love and laughter!

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Sweet Thing by Van Morrison

Recessional: Come and Get Your Love by Redbone

Reception entry: Gimme some lovin’ by The Spencer David Group

First dance: Dweller on the Threshold by Van Morrison

Funny stories or near disasters.

Our wedding band had so much fun the lead singer ended up staying the night!

Planning surprises.

Twelve months of my life was consumed with planning a wedding!

Words of wisdom.

Embrace making your wedding day your own, and always remember the reason you are getting married! Oh, and have a co-ordinator on the day – they have a run sheet and ensure everything runs smoothly and is on time, and everyone asks them questions not you!
