Real Wedding – Jack & Lou, Yea VIC
A laid-back couple with stunning personal style, Jack and Lou created a wedding that perfectly balanced unrestrained fun and an effortless celebration with vibrant, summary visuals.
As a nod to the farmlands hosting the soiree, touches of gentle rustic anchor the overall look, while florals in summery hues add colour and movement. Photographer superstar Alex Motta perfectly integrates the vast bushland vista into every image, perfectly juxtaposing it against the modern elegance of the day.
Jack looks relaxed but sharp in his timeless navy suit, while Lou stuns in her chic modern sheath gown by Kyha Studios. We love the bralette bodice detailing, the whole effect harmonising with the mismatched bride squad in shades of blush.
But what truly stands out is the infectious sense of fun that permeates every frame. This is a celebration that was an absolute blast from start to finish, with unexpected moments of joy (spoiler: there is a reception entry on rollerblades!). Prepare for a delightful journey that will leave you with a sweet serotonin hit.
The meeting.
Jack and I met on a night out at Seven Nightclub a bit over nine years ago – which no longer exists but was a real hot spot when we were younger!
The ‘one’.
When we decided to book an overseas holiday 12 months in advance after only having been together for about two months – and it didn’t even feel like a question.
The proposal.
We had been gifted a voucher for Montalto that was about to expire, and so decided to make an excuse for a weekend away, staying at Lancemore in Red Hill. Jack caught me off guard when he popped the question on a stroll around the accommodation. We then headed to Montalto for a lovely celebratory dinner.
Style inspiration.
With the wedding being hosted on a farm, we wanted the styling to be relaxed, colourful, summery and a little bit rustic. My dad also had a hand in the styling – building a bar from storage pallets and recycled corrugated iron, which was incredible.
I found inspiration from weddings that I had attended myself really useful, and I leaned a lot on my friends who were going through the wedding planning process and who were so generous in sharing their wisdom! I also did a lot of scanning Pinterest and Instagram for ideas.
The ceremony.
We found it really special that our vows ended up having a similar theme, despite not seeing or discussing them prior. The theme of home was really prominent, which also conveniently linked back to the aisle song (which only I knew about!).
The outfits.
My party dress was something I was really excited about. I had followed Annie’s Ibiza on Instagram for years and they had this staple dress that I always had my eye on – but needed an occasion for it! I was in London in the middle of last year and went into their Carnaby Street store (which is an experience in itself) and tried it on and fell even more in love. The girls in the store were so lovely and helpful. I was so excited to wear it on my wedding day.
Favourite moments.
My favourite moment was when our photographer Alex took us away for some sunset snaps. It was so nice to have that moment on our own and to look back from afar at everyone there to celebrate with us!
Wedding soundtrack.

Reception entry: Waterloo by Abba

Funny stories or near disasters.
We had a near miss with the weather, as the day after our wedding it started raining … and didn’t stop! We had flood evacuation warnings in Yea, and after most people had left, we actually got flooded in at the property, with cars unable to get out the driveaway! 150mm of rain in around 24 hours – I’ve never seen anything like it. It did make for a funny day, trapped in with some of our closest friends for day one of our honeymoon.
Planning surprises.
I think the most challenging thing on the day was coordinating the family photos which really surprised me! I’d recommend having a member of the bridal party coordinate this on the day so that everyone is where they need to be.
Words of wisdom.
A hot tip is to make sure your veil is really secured as mine fell out walking down the aisle!!

JACK & LOU’S VENDORS
Many of the suppliers we used were friends which made the day even more personal and special. These included our amazing band, Astronaughty, hair and make-up artists Sam and Cat, celebrant Christina, Bar Team from Marmalades in Yea and illustrator, Emily Cherry from Draw Our Day.
We also wanted to use some local suppliers where possible, using a local florist in Nici who nailed the brief and Seymour Party Hire.
Our wonderful photographer, Alex, was recommended by one of my good friends as he was also shooting their wedding. It was so amazing to see how he worked, and they couldn’t have spoken more highly of their experience – which we can now totally resonate with!
