Real Wedding – Molly & Ash, Euroa VIC

Molly and Ash’s sweet country celebration warms our heart in every way. When they set about planning their day, they focused on invoking feelings reminiscent of warm summer evenings that seem to go on forever and the gardens of the Euroa Butter Factory proved to be the perfect backdrop for such a vision.

Molly graced the day in the classic styling of her custom d’Italia gown, exuding timeless elegance. Bouquets of chamomile radiated warmth, perfectly complementing their neutral palette, while drapes of baby’s breath lined the tablescapes, creating an ethereal ambiance. Nikki McCrone’s awe-inspiring photography captured every moment with such finesse, each frame depicting the relaxed yet jubilant tone of the day.

And to top it all off, a jam packed dance floor under the stars headlined by the music makers and shakers themselves, Baker Boys Band. It was truly a night to remember.

The meeting.

We met at the beginning of lockdown via good old fashioned Bumble. Our first date was a take away coffee from Kettle Black and a lap around the Tan.

The ‘one’.

Molly: When he was able to deal with my large and chaotic family, including five nieces and nephews crawling all over him without even breaking a sweat.

Ash: When we were making homemade gnocchi in lockdown. I watched her making an absolute mess of the kitchen and realised she was the one.

The proposal.

Molly: We went out for a sunset stand up paddle board at Portarlington and he popped the question in the water. It was a complete shock, and it was even more shocking when we came back to my parent’s beach house to discover all my friends and family waiting for us for an impromptu engagement party (he was obviously pretty confident of the answer!).

Planning process.

We tried to make it as fun as possible – we saved bottles of champagne from our engagement and opened them when big planning milestones were completed like booking the reception venue. It was also important to us to continual check in with each other and delegate tasks to make sure we were sharing the load evenly.

Style inspiration.

Molly: We wanted a classy yet relaxed country vibe. We’re both from the country and wanted to recreate the feeling of the fun summer nights we had growing up that seemed to stretch on forever.

We also both love the movie About Time, and we wanted our wedding to have the same loved up and carefree vibe the wedding in that had.

The ceremony.

We got married in the Euroa Catholic Church and our priest did a great job of making the ceremony feel  fun and accessible to everyone, yet still focusing on the significance of what marriage is.

The look.

Ash wore a Calibre velvet tux. It was the first tux we tried on and after looking at a few other options we couldn’t find anything that looked anywhere near as dapper!

Molly tried on dresses from a few different stores and ended up getting d’Italia to help create a blend of a few of her favourite styles.

Favourite moments.

Molly: I really loved walking down the aisle. It felt like such a special moment seeing everyone I love most beaming (and a few tears). I also loved when the dance floor officially kicked off with Simply the Best – most of the formalities were done and it was so much fun to see the moments we’d thought about and planned for a year finally come together exactly as we’d hoped. We also wrote each guest a note and watching everyone’s reactions to reading these, especially our parents, was so, so special.

Ash: We had 20 minutes of private time with just the two of us before the reception, we shared a bottle of Dom Perignon and got to debrief on the events of the day so far – it was good to get some alone time on what was otherwise a hectic day.

Meaning of marriage.

Molly: It means making a commitment to choose each other every day and always being each other’s number one person. It also means knowing that a life we build together is so much richer than the lives we could build separately.

Ash: It means spending the rest of my life with my best friend and committing to getting through whatever life will throw at us as a team.

Wedding soundtrack.

Aisle: Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers

Recessional: This Will Be (an everlasting love) by Natalie Cole

First Dance: Missing Piece by Vance Joy

Funny stories or near disasters.

The Best Man’s car broke down the night before the reception, in the middle of the Hume, five hours away from the venue. Luckily this was not a first for him and he had top insurance cover and made it there in time to have a beer with Ash on his last night as a single man.

Planning surprises.

Molly: You get so much unsolicited advice! When first trying to figure out our wedding style I was overwhelmed by how many opinions were being thrown at me from every angle. People meant well but it made it quite tricky to figure out what it was we actually wanted ourselves.

Ash: If you’re organised and on top of everything, it doesn’t have to be as hard as everyone makes out.

Words of wisdom.

Molly: Yes it’s a lot of fuss for one day, but it’s the day you’ve probably thought about a million times before, the one you’ll think about the most for the rest of your life and one day that will bring so much joy to the people around you, so don’t feel silly for caring about the little things and putting in effort to make the day what you want. But that said, when trying to figure out what matters for you on the day, focus on how you want to feel, and how you want your guests to feel – you’ll find most of the things that impact this don’t cost much money!

Have fun with your fiancée throughout the process and when the stressful curve balls hit, make sure you face them together as a team. It will make you feel a lot closer to each other and a lot more excited to get married.

MOLLY & ASH’S VENDORS

We used word of mouth and google for a lot of it, but once we had our venue locked in we used Ivory Tribe to find other vendors who’d provided services at the venue, as it was a rural venue.

Ceremony venue: St Johns Catholic Church, Euroa

Reception venue: Euroa Butter Factory

Officiant: Fr Rob Galea

Photography: Nikki McCrone – Nikki was such a wonderful support in the lead up to the wedding, and outdid herself on the actual day. She was such a fun vibe, and made everyone feel at ease, but also did a fantastic job of being the boss and making sure everyone was where they needed to be – and the photos she produced are amazing, we can’t stop looking at them!

Florist: Twig & Hynes

Hair: Tonic Agency (Kim Taveres)

Make-up: Nadia Gualtieri

The dress & veil: d’italia

Rings: Cullen Jewellery

Bridesmaid’s dresses: Dissh

Suits: Politix / Calibre

Stationery / Signage: The Variegated – the invites and signage were AMAZING! Couldn’t recommend Maddie more.

Entertainment: Baker Boys Band – hands down one of the best decisions we made was going with them. The dance floor was never empty and they were so great at communicating in the lead up to the wedding to make sure everything ran smoothly.

Honeymoon: Road trip in a campervan across the coast of Western Australia.
